Big Appreciation to @ecotrain for their consistency on the weekly engagement topics. The topics so far had been challenging topics and this week we are Charged with another challenging topic Titled WHY IS IT SO HARD TO MEDITATE when I saw this week's question I was confused and was contemplating if I will participate because I am not the kind of person that mediate to an extent but I know I got some reasons why I myself find it so hard to meditate.

Basically from my own perspective, meditation is a state of being alone in a quiet/silent environment with eyes closed and focusing on one's mind for a long period of time in other to get insight of something or probably a method of relaxation.

BENEFITS OF MEDITATION
*when meditating we free our minds from stress and focus on something new.
Because stress can lead to anxiety and can also deprive one from sleep etc.
The moment all these happens then our health is at risk

*Meditation can help one from getting depressed but help one have a positive outlook

*Meditation helps our mental health, makes us more healthy and sound mentally and the moment our mental health is sound so those other parts of the body

*Meditation helps one know about his or her capabilities in other to make big progress in the outside world

*Meditation makes one mind strong enough to be able to maintain attention and mind stability

REASONS WHY I FIND MEDIATION SO HARD
Here are my own personal reasons why I find it so hard to meditate.

TIGHT SCHEDULE
As a student and a Nigerian,this days it is like 24hrs is not enough, why? It is due to tight schedule.waking up in the morning for 8am classes ,trying to cook before attending the class, after the whole school schedule, getting back home late evening tired and stressed.
The next thing at that moment is to sleep,not forgetting one have to cook for the night and got assignment to set up for the next day's class and still have to one read.
With all these i mentioned I don't think I will be chanced to sit down in a silent environment closing my eyes in other to meditate.

DEEP THOUGHT
Excess thinking of how to go about my daily activities will give no room for me to relax my mind and try mediate.
Trying to create, trying to bring out new idea will make my mind not to stop running in which is a normal thing and the aspect of being confused will definitely not make one think right.
The ability to turn of those things and focus on mediation is very hard.

INABILITY TO GET A SILENT ENVIRONMENT
The world is busy,most especially we residing in Lagos Nigeria (main land). The daily routine noise is at a disadvantage.Is it the noise of people passing bye?,noise of market people, vehicle horns?
Those that reside in Lagos will understand what i am trying to drive at. All these things are distractions in which makes it so hard to meditate.

MEDITATION IS MIND NUMBING
Sitting down quietly in a place is not my style, I hate being bored and to me meditating is boring, the moment one sit me down quietly to meditate, then I start feeling sleepy or try do something to make me feel alive.

To wrap it all up. To me meditating is hard but I will strongly advice we try mediating and overcome the difficulties, in other to have a sounds health and positive mental health stability.

Meditation is a state of mind, not just in the posture that looks like meditation.

As a Chinese man, our culture, in fact the whole of the Ancient Eastern cultures, are centered around the meditative state of mind...that is to say...STILLNESS.

The Western cultures, especially the modern Western Cultures, is all centered around STIMULATION. By artificial means (via technology, drugs, social interactions) the appearance and benefits of meditation have been created...but this is not the real thing.

Meditation is a state of mind. One can be in a busy market and practice the meditation via the teachings and principles of something called Kshanti paramita. Meditation you must remember is stillness; stillness is the precursor to Chan/Zen, which is the mind and experience of the Buddha, which all of us have the capability to tap into.
