To continue supporting the excellent initiative of @ecotrain and @ocd to maintain a healthy diet, I will publish a compilation of autochthonous and popular dishes of the gastronomy of my country of Venezuela, which can be consumed in the vegan diet because they are very nutritious. , healthy and In addition, they are made using corn as the main ingredient, which is a cereal rich in fiber, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals, which provide the body with antioxidants, ideal for fighting free radicals and preventing cell aging.

Corn is widely used in autochthonous dishes in Venezuela, because it is very inexpensive and many families harvest it, since a harvest is obtained in only three months, making it a sustainable food, from there today I wanted to share these beautiful recipes. which are ideal to eat alone or as a complement to other meals.

Dish 1 (Tender Corn Buns)

Ingredients:
β€’ 3 ears of corn.
β€’ 3 tablespoons of sugar or honey.
β€’ 1 teaspoon salt.
β€’ Corncob leaves to wrap the buns.

preparation:

You should peel the corn cob and add to a blender or food processor with the salt and sugar, until it forms a paste.

Then you take the corn husks and place a portion in the center, fold and tie with a string, then cook in boiling water for 20 minutes ... they are delicious !!!

Dish 3 (Arepa de MaΓ­z)

It is one of the flagship dishes of Venezuela, which is always in most houses throughout the country, they are eaten alone or stuffed and are very tasty, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside ...

Its preparation in simple, must have the following ingredients:

β€’ 1 cup of cornmeal
β€’ 1 cup of water.
β€’ a teaspoon of salt.

In a container, knead the ingredients well until you get a smooth and homogeneous dough, then form a ball with your hands, flatten it, it will be in the shape of a disk and take it to a non-stick griddle until they brown on both sides and form a hard shell .

You can eat these arepas with vegetables, grain creams or any other filling of your choice.

You can make them of the vegetable you want by substituting the cup of water for the juice of a vegetable such as spinach, broccoli, beets, they are great !!!

I love arepas! I thought they’d be really difficult to make or need fancy equipment like corn tortilla. These are definitely going onto my list to make. I have some plant based mince in the freezer...oh yes.

Does the cornmeal need to be very fine?
