So a friend of mine recently bought a 500 year old Cottage situated in the English Countryside, surrounded by excellent farm lands and natural scenery, not to mention the plot of land itself is magnificent in it's own right. I have been spending the recent weeks there helping my friend turn her place into an environment where she can live the permaculture life.
I have little farming and permaculture experience; thanks to my travels during my early twenties all around Europe, i once spent about two weeks living on a permaculture farm in East Belgium as a volunteer for room and board (via the helpx.net platform). Those two weeks were eye opening for me and i learnt so much during my time there. It's funny how these farming experiences never left me, though it's been about a decade since i last used any of my farming skills.
The weather has been quite turbulent as of recent (actually just yesterday we got absolutely wrecked by murderous torrents), but we were still able to get much done...
...we cleaned out the green house...
...cleared out an old shed and finding a bird's nest and eggs (not sure if these are dead eggs...they were blue)...
...we got stung by nettles...
...best of all we were able to turn a flower-patch...
...into...
...a place we can bury dead bodies a proper veggie patch!!!
We dumped in some potatoes...
...potted some of the other herbs to make space for other things...
...i forgot to take photos of the onion plants we found...but take a look at this strawberry plant anyhow...
All in all it's been swell. There's much work to be done on this land and i've been recording videos on the go as we crack on. Stay tuned for the full length video coming to your theaters soon!
That's it for now.
Gotta love those nettles eh.
HELL NO!!! Those nettles fucked me up lol
You should try eating some.
heard they were good to make tea with
One can do a lot with that plant. Worth looking into. Just gotta handle with care.
Understood!
Will look into it!
Nice place, I can't imagine she got much change out of half a million for that place?!?
I don't know nuttin!
That's excellent. I can't believe that is a cottage. It looks like a mansion to me. Is it far to a town?
Its about a 15min drive to the nearest town
