Hola, amigos de #Hive. Quiero compartir con todos ustedes una actividad que se realizó con los estudiantes de quinto y sexto grado en la escuela. En esta ocasión tuvimos la oportunidad de visitar a la escojida tabacalera de la localidad. Lugar donde llega todo el tabaco procedente de los campos, donde se seca, procesa, selecciona y distribuye en dependencia de la calidad, color y textura. Desde aquí sale hacia las fábricas de tabaco para la confección de puros y cigarros.
Hello, friends of #Hive. I want to share with you all an activity that was carried out with fifth and sixth grade students at the school. On this occasion we had the opportunity to visit the chosen tobacco factory in the locality. Place where all the tobacco from the fields arrives, where it is dried, processed, selected and distributed depending on the quality, color and texture. From here it goes to the tobacco factories for the manufacture of cigars and cigarettes.

Los estudiantes, emocionados y curiosos, se adentraron en la experiencia. La escojida nos abrió sus puertas, y empezamos a comprender todo el proceso artesanal que se necesita para lograr confeccionar los tabacos.
Todo empezó cuando los chicos pudieron interactuar y charlar con los trabajadores. Los estudiantes recitaron poesías, otros leyeron versos de nuestro poeta nacional. Fue genial ver cómo se iluminaban al hacer preguntas y aprender de los expertos. La confección de tabaco no es solo un trabajo, es un arte.
The students, excited and curious, ventured into the experience. The chosen one opened her doors to us, and we began to understand all the artisanal process that is needed to make the tobacco.
It all started when the kids could interact and chat with the workers. The students recited poems, others read verses from our national poet. It was great to see how they lit up when they asked questions and learned from the experts. The manufacture of tobacco is not just a job, it is an art.

Lo presenciado en el lugar fue un momento grandioso para los niños, la curiosidad los invadía contantemente. Los estudiantes estaban asombrados al ver cómo cada hoja de tabaco se convertiría en parte de una obra maestra en mano de aquellos que conocen en la comunidad.
Los niños notaron la pasión que los trabajadores le ponen en cada hoja de tabaco. Algunos hasta se aventuraron a intentar quitarle la vena a las hojas. Una experiencia más para ellos.
The scene at the tobacco farm was a great moment for the kids, their curiosity was constantly aroused. The students were amazed at how each tobacco leaf would become part of a masterpiece in the hands of those who know in the community.
The children noticed the passion that the workers put into each tobacco leaf. Some even ventured to try to remove the vein from the leaves. Another experience for them.

La experiencia no solo es educativa, sino también una oportunidad para apreciar la riqueza cultural que rodea al tabaco cubano. Los estudiantes comprendieron que no es solo un producto, es una tradición, es cultura, una forma de arte que lleva siglos entre nosotros.
Nos fuimos con una vasta cantidad de conocimientos y gratitud. Ver a los chicos tan entusiasmados y conectados con la artesanía local fue lo mejor. Definitivamente, estos momentos fuera del aula dejan huella en ellos.
The experience is not only educational, but also an opportunity to appreciate the cultural richness that surrounds Cuban tobacco. The students understood that it is not only a product, it is a tradition, it is culture, a form of art that has been with us for centuries.
We left with a wealth of knowledge and gratitude. Seeing the kids so excited and connected with the local craftsmanship was the best. Definitely, these moments outside the classroom leave a mark on them.

Así que, si alguna vez se presenta la oportunidad de visitar una tabacalera o escojida, les animo a que no duden en hacerlo. Esta experiencia va mucho más allá de simplemente fumar un cigarro; en ella se apreciar la maestría que reside en cada puro cubano. A través de esta vivencia, no solo aprendemos sobre el proceso artesanal del tabaco, sino que también conectamos con la rica tradición cultural que lo rodea.
So, if you ever have the opportunity to visit a tobacco plantation or factory, I encourage you to do so. This experience is much more than just smoking a cigar; it is appreciating the mastery that resides in each Cuban cigar. Through this experience, we not only learn about the artisanal process of tobacco, but we also connect with the rich cultural tradition that surrounds it.
