Cumaná, the capital of Sucre state in Venezuela, is the oldest city on the American continent. On November 27, 2025, a remarkable 510 years since its founding by Franciscan friars. To celebrate and commemorate this date, a festival called Las Noches de Antiguano (Nights of Yesteryear) was held in the historic district of the city center. The event lasted three days from the date indicated. That is why many public and private educational institutions also celebrate it.

Cumaná la capital del estado Sucre, en Venezuela es la ciudad más longeva del continente Americano, cumplió, el pasado 27 de noviembre de 2025 , nada más y nada menos que 510 años de fundada por los padres franciscanos, y precisamente para festejar y conmemorar esa fecha se realizó un festejo denominado las noches de antaño, que particularmente se realiza en los predios del casco histórico de dicha ciudad, en el centro de la misma dicho evento dura tres días desde la fecha indicada. Y es por ello que muchas instituciones acciones educativas públicas y privadas también lo festejan.
La característica que digna este evento es el uso de trajes de vieja data, que mucha gente dice "antañona". Por ejemplo usan sombreros damas y caballeros de la época colonial, así como tirantes (caballeros), vestidos grandes con encajes despampanantes. También se destacan dulcerías de la región, como besos de coco, bolitas de coco, chocolate, piñonate, arroz con coco, entre otros deleites para el paladar. Así como algunas bebidas espirituosas como chinguirito, singaparao y ron con ponsigue.
