Every time I come to Belgrade by bus, I use the opportunity to visit the monument to Stefan Nemanja. This monument cannot be bypassed, not noticed or hidden in admiration for its beauty. It is located near the bus station, about 50 meters away.
Stefan Nemanja was the most important Serbian ruler, the founder of the Serbian state and the Orthodox Church. Stefan Nemanja and all his descendants are known for their great piety, during their reign many monasteries and churches were built. The Serbian state experienced its greatest rise in the Middle Ages during the reign of the Nemanjic dynasty.
The monument is 23 meters high and weighs 68 tons. It shows Stefan Nemanja with a sword in his right hand and the Hilandar Charter in his left hand.
Parts of Serbian history are written inside the pedestal. There is a picture of the lineage of the Nemanjic dynasty, a double-headed eagle - the coat of arms of the Republic of Serbia and a strong message for the entire Serbian people - to respect its history and its ancestors.
Visit the monument to Stefan Nemanja if you come to Belgrade and write your impressions :)
