Peter is very happy today. He is going to the beach with his family.
They pack their swimming costumes, towels and hats. It is important to wear a hat when you play outside that you do not get burned by the sun. They also pack some balls and some card games to play with. They are planning to have a lot of fun. They pack an umbrella so that they will have some shade.
Peter even brings his pet rock. This is not a real pet, but a rock that Peter takes with him everywhere. He named it Charlie.
It is a sunny day and just the right weather for a day at the beach. They do not stay close to the beach so they have to drive there with their car.
When they get to the beach, Peter puts all his things on his towel and he takes out his pail and shovel. He walks to the edge of the water to build a sandcastle.
The sandcastle is very big and has four towers. The castle is close to the water and the next moment the water washes the castle away.
Peter first wanted to cry but then he decides to go for a swim. He jumps in the water and splashes his dad. They swim and play in the water for a while.
His mom calls them and it is time for lunch. They eat some apples, pears and grapes and sandwiches. The food tastes very good.
He swims some more and builds another castle and then it is time to leave.
They start packing up, but where is Charlie? Peter looks everywhere and he is very worried, but then he sees Charlie, the pet rock, lying in the sand by the water's edge.
"Charlie, I almost lost you. I am so glad that the sea did not wash you away like it did with the castle."
Peter finish packing and they all leave the beach to drive home again.
Peter is tired, but very happy, because he had a fun day.
