Cine TV Contest | Let It Shine

Have you ever wish to be on a career path of your choice but you have a huge obstacle preventing you from taking the path and at some point, after you try your best to still shine, someone else came to steal that shine from you, when it come to musical movies, Let It Shine always top my list. This movie was made in 2012 and I really love it after watching, it was based on 2 childhood friend, a lady and their music career. Cyrus (Tyler Williams) was a pastor child and his dad was deeply rooted in christianity to the extend that he do preach bluntly without thinking about the consequences and anything out of christianity is a no for him, his son cyrus was a pro rapper and love music but he wasn't allow to take this path because his dad was against it and that really reduce his confidence in rapping, he was scared of been caught, what his dad will say plus he was very shy, only his mom knew about his passion for rapping and also how he do sneak out at night to work in a club. He has this handsome childhood friend kris (Trevor Jackson) who was the opposite of him, not that good musically but he got the swag and vibes and also free to do as he like.

Roxie (Coco Jones) who is a star created a music challenge and everyone interested submitted their entry, Cyrus (the pastor son) did the same but put a picture that contain both him and Kris (his major mistake), Roxie love the track but saw both of them in it then mistake Kris as the major challenge winner (with the nick "the truth"), kris was hot and has the vibe while cyrus just look too dull to sing such track so I understand the mistake but after announcing Kris the winner public and both friend found out kris wasn't the actual track winner but instead of telling Roxie the truth in the beginning, both decided to play along for some reason, Cyrus wasn't bold enough, he was shy and also scared of his father finding out he is into secular rap songs or he work in a bar and since Kris can't sing nor produce song like him, he decided to be his backup and DJ while Kris enjoy the fame. The major mistake now here is that the fame and popularity entered Kris head and he started behaving anyhow, first he wasn't focusing on the music and what pained Cyrus the most was that Roxie started liking Kris because of the song and Kris was flirt with different girls which wasn't making Roxie happy so Cyrus vex and decided to quit the deal and also tell Roxie the truth after having a public fight with Kris.

The interesting part was when the truth started unfolding, Roxie went to Cyrus dad church, sang and the dad wasn't please so as usual he talked bluntly while using Roxie to preach but Cyrus mum to the dad to apologize to the girl so he went to the club to look for her and found out his son work in the club and that vex him more when he found out his wife knew about everything. Also Roxie was suppose to perform with Kris but Cyrus reveal himself as the original song owner and that didn't go down well with her but business is business, they had to put emotion aside and focus on the future ahead. It kind of influence me in some ways, your family is important to you and your career or dream is very more important, never allow people decision to overshadow it, even though his dad was against him taking a career in secular rap music, he still find a way to bring into the church as a choir master and he doesn't mind sacrificing his night to do what he love doing. Till now one of the song still pop up in my mind "This little light of mine I'm gonna let it shine"

This is more than a song to me, it hold great message especially to young children, I heard it first in the movie before I started seeing it everywhere, one you have a career path you are sure of following, obstacles and discouragement will come but no matter what, you shouldn't let it die of but instead do everything in your power to make it shine.
