I just finished the fourth season of Castlevania on Netflix and boy oh boy it was so fucking good!
Unfortunately, we are not getting a new season although it appears we are getting a spin off in the future.
Castlevania is a cartoon, loosely based on the Castlevania video game and its mythology. I haven't played any of the games, with the exception of the game boy game. So my opinion is entirely based on just the cartoon. Perhaps hardcore gamers will disagree or get disappointed by the series.
This Netflix production simply blew my mind. For starters, the animation is excellent, I actually believed at first that I was watching a Japanese anime! I think I read somewhere that the production team actually hired people from the Japan for the animation but I'm not entirely sure.
The story and the characters are also quite interesting and overall a very nice spin on the old and tried Dracula story.
Even the English voice acting is good ( with the exception of one or two characters where it sucked balls) something that I found quite surprising.
Lot of action, lots of fights and the occasional drama result in a series that you will be simply unable to stop watching till the final episode, which has a satisfying ending with no strings let loose.
Overall a great watch regardless of age. If you like vampires, monsters, spells and stuff like that it's a must watch!
I will give it a 9 out of 10!
Okay, this has been sitting on my saved list for quite some time now. I really should get on it... But I really want to finish Jessica Jones first! (yes, I'm that far behind...).

Mixed... I really enjoyed the first season. The later seasons get a bit too mopey for me, but I'm so close to just finishing it that I think I will stick it through the last few episodes.
I've watched the first three seasons ( and I usually don't watch that much TV). It is quite good, I like the way they managed to keep things interesting even after taking off the central theme of Dracula's revenge ploy by killing him off early. It can be a bit gory though

I saw the anime series on Netflix, very well done. It reminds me a bit of the Van Helsing anime!
Yeah I noticed it does share a slight resemblance to the Van Helsing movie of 2003 (I think). haven't watched the anime though

I recently finished it too and I couldn't agree more! It's a heck of a series and this 4th season was very bittersweet for me because, while I think it was a great wrap-up for the series, I really wish it would go on.
I am a hardcore fan of the Castlevania games and I wasn't disappointed at all. On the contrary, it hit me with a lot of nostalgia and good memories!
I really hope that if we do get a spin-off, it's based on the Castlevania: Symphony of the Night game, which is, in my humble opinion, the best game of the series and one of the best games ever made! The game features Alucard and one of Trevor Belmont's descendants among its main character so they could make it work!
Good to see that fans of the game were not disappointed!

Awesome! I blogged about this series, years ago and never heard there was a 3rd and 4th season until reading your post. I really enjoyed it too, back then and don't really remember having played the game ( much ) myself but, then again, I had to make do with PC games ( didn't even own a GameBoy and I was born in 1981 ) at home.
Hehe, I was lucky to have both a PC and plenty of consoles!
