The Perks of Being a Wallflower

in CineTV3 years ago (edited)

It was the time when I was looking at the beach and wondering some thoughts by glaring out of the window, where I saw winds circling clockwise in the major parts of my unobstructed view due to a cyclone passing by closely in the west coast of India.

Then I recalled one absolutely unrelated movie named "The Perks of Being a Wallflower", I reached to my laptop and opened the specific drive, and there it was residing in one of my folder called "My favorites" along with some others. To make this terrifying moment perfect ,I made a coffee for myself and started watching the movie in a full screen mode again.

About

This movie has always been close to my heart, not because of Emma Watson starring in it ,but due the fact in every second of it's length it takes you on roller-coaster ride of raw sentiments which is not easily seen nowadays.

This movie is about an introvert and unconfident male character named Charlie played by Logan Lerman who is fighting with post traumatic stress disorder and also finding difficulties in pursuing friendships mainly due to his past life incidents happened with Aunt Helen and his bestfriend. This is movie has been released in 2012 and based upon a novel published in 1999 of the same name.

Storytelling (NO SPOILERS)

Story starts when Charlie enters his freshmen year of high school where he is being treated like an unwanted stranger. Nobody likes his personality and treats him like a trouble minded freak, but later on as the story goes on he meets two most important people who switched his life forever ,they are played by Erza Miller and Ema Watson as his Seniors which eventually becomes his good buddies. Like every other seniors these two have also survived their initial high school days and now they have been evolved into fearless, benevolent & exceptional identities.

Slowly and steadily, Charlie develops himself into a new being which is not an introvert anymore and has started taking initiatives in establishing relationships. Being a junior to them ,he also assist both Sam and Patrick when story takes lots of twist and turns. Later on his journey takes a pleasant turn when a love story starts generating between Charlie and Sam.

This movie has a significant suspense/problem in the end which has become common obstacle in many teenager's life. Along with this ,it also deals with many individual problems which has been normally faced by teens in their day to day life.

Being A Wallflower

A wallflower is a type of person who has a social anxiety and avoids social gatherings. Being a wallflower is always a major challenge for your own personality because your reticent behavior gains control over your identity and eventually becomes as a dominating enemy. But this story also rolls you along with some perks of being a wallflower such as these people always see things and understands it to an extent where nobody can. Their situational awareness is way too powerful enough to guide you in your difficult times and helps you to reach your required destination.

My Favorite

There is a scene when Charlie asks his English teacher played by Paul Rudd, that "Why do nice people choose the wrong people to date" and his English teacher respond with a profound answer that "Well- we accept the love we think we deserve". If you know what I mean than you will definitely dig in deep and hibernate yourself with the hidden understanding behind this line.

Essence of simplicity and bubble of emotions has given this movie an unique genre to live.

In the end I would like to close this article with quote I'll never forget which is "I feel infinite" which simply means to attain your full potential (which is the utmost need in the Maslow's Hierarchy) or OUT OF THE WORLD.

Thanks for reading!!!
