JAY’S DAD /// A HILARIOUS COMEDY-DRAMA

in CineTV20 hours ago

PLOT SUMMARY

This movie titled “Jay’s Dad” features Teniola Aladese (as Ejiro) and Daniel Etim Effiong (as Buchi).

It follows the story of Buchi, a play boy who takes lessons from his carefree, down-to-earth friend, Damian(played by Tony Mezie) on how to woo a woman.

Wait! I can’t believe Buchi was really taking notes as his friend was teaching him; dishing out those lame childish pickup lines. Lol.
When he gave him the 'are you an athlete? Cause you’ve been running through my mind!' line, I laughed so hard.

Anyways…

Buchi would then come in contact with Ejiro (portrayed by Teniola Aladese). The plan was to woo her, get under her pants, and then discard her later, in his usual manner.

Ejiro initially proves really difficult to get until one day when she sees Buchi holding a baby, stranded along the road with his car faulty.

This begins the start of a new relationship between Buchi and Ejiro as she becomes fond of the little baby.

But the questions are: “where is the mother of the baby, Jay?” “Is Buchi a single dad?” “Will Buchi follow through with his plans of dumping Ejiro after getting her?”

MY THOUGHTS

Honestly, I had a good time watching this. Although it dragged unnecessarily as the plot could have been successfully delivered at half the duration, nevertheless, it was worth the watch.

Ever since Daniel Etim Effiong’s role in “Selina” with Bimbo Ademoye, I've taken an interest in movies he acts. He's good.

I like his steeze, his demeanor, his disposition, his calmness…he sort of added a layer to his role in this movie, though, which I liked. Guy’s good abeg!

I loved the decor in Buchi’s living room too; so peaceful and homely.

The little baby, Munachi Uriel Muolokwo (who played baby Jay), is a born actress. Nobody can tell me otherwise.

20 years from now, Wikipedia would be like “...Munachi started her acting career at a very tender age when in 2024, she featured in “Jay’s Dad” as the little baby”

Buchi’s friend, Damian, is the most natural support actor I’ve seen in a while. For a moment there, I forgot it was drama. Acting was smooth!

Teniola is so pretty. I loved how confident she was in her beauty. She reminds me of this close friend of mine.

The lady who played Buchi’s sister was quite phenomenal. She was like “…so your crush is now crushing your heart already abi”…this one hits differently.

Picture quality was brilliant. However, the audio was a bit low. The soundtrack was amazing. It gave me Nollywood of old kinda vibe, which I really liked.

The editing for the cast rollout at the beginning of the movie had mistakes where, instead of, for instance, “Daniel Etim Effiong as Buchi” it was the other way round (Buchi as Daniel Etim Effiong)…it carried on for all the cast.

Don’t expect too much from this…just enjoy it as an easygoing drama (if you may). It was interesting for me.
