THE MOVIES THAT ROCKED MY CHILDHOOD

This is my Entry for the contest. My dad is a lover of movies and it rubbed off on us kids. He made sure to get us a copy of all these movies to watch at home with him, then cassettes rocked. Here's a list of my 7 unforgettable childhood movies.

#1 📽DENNIS THE MENACE📽

Release date: 1993 HOLLYWOOD Starring: Mason Gamble (Dennis) and Walter Matthau (Mr. Wilson)

Dennis the Menace was a truly exceptional film. Dennis is a mischievous 5-year-old boy who is fond of his neighbor, Mr. Wilson, in this film. Dennis went missing one day, and the entire neighborhood was in disarray until he was found and the kidnappers were apprehended.

Why I think this movie is great: It emphasized the importance of community and how we should value the people around us. It did, however, teach you how to deal with your kidnappers.😂

#2 📽GOING BANANAS📽

Release date: 1988 HOLLYWOOD Starring: David Mendenhall (Ben), Dom DeLuise (Big bad joe) and Jimmie Walker (Mozambo)

A true comedy about a boy named Ben, his guardian, Big Bad Joe, and the hilarious guide Mozambo attempting to save a talking chimp named Bonzo from bad guys. If you've watched then surely you'll remember BA-BA-BA-NA-NAS😂

Why I think this movie is great: 😂It's an emotional roller coaster of a film. I cried and laughed a lot. It simply demonstrated the bond between humans and animals, and how, alas, we aren't all that different and have feelings as well💜

#3 📽THE WITCHES📽

Release date: 1993 HOLLYWOOD Starring: Jasen Fisher (Luke) and Anjelica Huston (Eva the Grand High Witch)

A story about an 8-year-old American boy named Luke who is warned about witches and then meets the grand witch herself, who turns him into a mouse. The film was remade in 2020, but I still prefer this original story.

Why I think this movie is great: The witches here were bad ones who hated kids. So was delighted to note that good always triumph over evil.

#4 📽AKI NA UKWA📽

Release date: 2002 NOLLYWOOD Starring: Osita Iheme (pawpaw), Chinedu Ikedieze (aki) and Amaechi Muonagor (Mr. Mbakwe)

A hilarious Comedy of two brothers who cause complete chaos in their home, school, and, well, their entire village.😂You'll LMFAO in this one.

Why I think this movie is great: It was fun to watch but surely not the kind of mischief you'll want your children to learn or practice😂.

#5 📽YEH VAADA RAHA📽

Release date: 1982 BOLLYWOOD Starring: Rishi Kapoor (Vikram) and Poonam Dhillon (Sunita)

A very emotional movie this one. A story about Vikram and Sunita who fell in love, but Vikram's mother was against it because Sunita came from a poor family. They decide to elope but got into a car accident. Sunita died, but Vikram survived. Years later, it was discovered that she had not died, but rather had a facial surgery. They reconnected after a decade apart. a song that linked them, I'm still singing that song in my head right now❤️😥.

Why I think this movie is great: A roller coaster of emotions. Love wins no matter what and discrimination is a game played by losers. I love this movie so much and have a downloaded copy. The song lives rent free in my head, FORVER😂

#6 📽THE 7TH VOYAGE OF SIMBAD📽

Release date: 1958 HOLLYWOOD CLASSIC Starring: Kerwin Mathews (Sinbad) and Kathryn Grant (Princess Parisa)

I watched this movie in 2001. A thrilling story about a sorcerer who shrinks the princess. Then comes the hero, Sinbad Sailing through seas and narrowly escaping the monsters of Colossa island to save Princess Parisa. This was a classic believe me, absolutely enjoyed watching and I will be watching again.

Why I think this movie is great: Love knows no bound and we can go to any length for our loved ones, even to the ends of earth, through seven seas, fighting all monsters.

#7 📽BEAUTY AND THE BEAST📽

Release date: 1991 HOLLYWOOD DISNEY ANIMATION Voice cast Starring: Paige O'Hara (Belle) and Robby Benson (the Beast)

A beautiful and enchanting story about an arrogant young prince and his castle's servants who fall victim to an enchantress's spell, which transforms him into the hideous Beast until he learns to love and be loved in return. Then comes the spirited Belle, who begins to entice the cold-hearted Beast out of hiding. I LOVE THIS STORY FOREVER.

Why I think this movie is great: There's absolutely nothing not to like about this movie, and nothing stopping it from being great. I mean it's Beauty and the best and stands my Best of all time till date. I also love the human remake starring Emma Watson, love her to pieces❤️

The movie, Dennis the Menace, originated as a series in the 1950's and 1960's on a weekly schedule. (also in black and white-no color). It was a hit with kids back then.

All of the movies you mention sound like they'd be entertaining to watch. I hope you win the contest sis! Much love to you!🤗😘💜🌻

Ah Fantastic, a series in 1950s/1960s? That's something😅
I reckon kids will love it, I did too when I got to watch the movie.
I'm grateful Sis, love you more♥️🤗

💜🤗😘🌻

Lol.

Dennis was innocently causing trouble...

But Aki na Ukwa were deliberately mischievous.

😂I agree with you

This post brought back so many memories. I had totally forgotten about where I heard ba-ba-ba-ba-na-na from.

And as for "the witches" I've only watched the remake and I didn't really like it. I didn't even know it was a remake.

Nice work. Goodluck in the contest.

😂 I'm glad I could achieve the throwback B0s.
Yeah the remake wasn't so impressive but it kinda bodied the main one.
Thank you so much🤗

Hi Starr. You take me down memory lane with this list of your childhood movies. Beauty and the Beast is one my favorites. Also, I remember watching some Sinbad movies and lived for the action, all thanks to my elder brother. 😃

Your formatting is lovely. You will have to teach me how you do it. 😉 Good luck in the contest.

Awe Thank you dear, no worries. So glad I achieved taking you down memory lane. I'd be happy too darling🤗

I also used to love as a child the cartoon of Dennis the Menace. He was constantly causing trouble for his elderly next door neighbor George lol.

😂So glad you relate well Darling, much love🤗

Excelente selección hermana 💞🙏🧘🏾🥰

❤️🤗

Of all these films, I only know 3:

  • DENNIS THE MENACE (Daniel the Menace in Venezuela)
  • BEAUTY AND THE BEAST
  • THE 7TH VOYAGE OF SIMBAD (I don't remember if with the same name)

I saw them on TV and not in the cinema, but these movies are part of history. Some of them make us laugh, others make us cry. I couldn't stand Daniel (Denis) very much. But from that movie I liked that the things he did were simply kids stuff, and how those things can be frowned upon by other people and categorize kids as evil (although there are some that certainly are hahaha). Here in my country I think this was part 2 of Daniel's (Dennis) antics. But I didn't like the Daniel in part 1 either hahaha.

Thank you for sharing part of your childhood dear friend.😉

Awe I'm so glad we share these three movies together,
Hahaha
Dennis was indeed an adorable menace.
My pleasure sweet Sis💜

Haha, awesome movie choices some I don't recognize but Dennis the menace is such a classic lol.

Awesome entry for the contest

Hahaha IKR
Love that classic.

🤗Thank you Drabs, good Luck 🤞🤞🍀🍀

Thank you for participating in our contest!

Awe Thank you so much, you're awesome. And brilliant initiative, you helped bring back so many lovely memories❤️🤗

I remember watching with my father his choice of old movies, The 7th Voyage of Sinbad, A PIRATE MOVIE. The kind of movies we had a history of sharing. There is a certain character or charm of old movies from way back.

☠️⛵️🌼

"There is a certain character or charm of old movies from way back."

Well said Sweet Kerri.
Aren't Dads just awesome❤️🤗
Unforgettable moments.
Love you Darling ❤️❤️

Ha I recall the sinbad movie when I was very small. My dad bought it along with the VHS player. As a kid I was amazed with the special effects 😂.

Hahaha
"special effects" not so special now is it😂
I look forward to a remake of this now with better Tech and stuff.
I'm glad we share this movie in common🎥 much love to you🤗❤️

I haven't visited your blog for a few days now, I miss sight seeing. Heading there when relaxed to feed my eyes with awesomeness 🤩🤩🤩
