La historia muestra a Gabriel, un ángel guardián de bajo nivel, con alitas muy pequeñas y disfuncionales interpretado por un inusual, tranquilo y reflexivo Keanu Reeves; y confieso, que me extraño ver a Keanu Reeves interpretando a este personaje ya que estamos acostumbrado a verlo con personaje decididos y con mucha más acción.
A diferencia de las representaciones tradicionales de seres celestiales omniscientes y perfectos, este Gabriel esta aburrido de lo que hace, quiere hacer algo más trascendental, pero todo lo que quiere hace lo hace mal y es que no evalúa las complejidades de la mente humana, su intervención divida es influyendo en el pensamiento de las personas, he visto eso en otras películas.

Gabriel's attention falls on two individuals whose lives are at opposite poles of the socioeconomic scale, one is Arj (played by Aziz Ansari), an unemployed film editor with financial difficulties, who lives in his car, he represents the average individual who struggles to make ends meet, facing the frustration and hopelessness of poverty and lack of opportunities, he shows the jobs that many people have in order to survive, in short his life is a chain of bad luck and temporary jobs that barely They allow him to survive.
The other character is Jeff (played by Seth Rogen), a wealthy shareholder in technology companies who lives a life of opulence in the Hollywood hills, Jeff embodies opulent wealth and, despite having everything material one could want, appears to lack a true purpose in life, although this is more of an initial inference by Gabriel than an established fact.
