No, no, this isn't going to be a post about Goodfellas, The Godfather or Casino, no, because these were critically acclaimed. I'm talking about the underdogs that were awesome, but didn't receive as much accreditation as they should have.
These are going to be films that probably no-one has heard of, or, if they've heard of them they'll not be known by huge audiences. Anyways, let's start with the show.
An Innocent Man
Damn this movie was so underrated. We loved this film when I was younger. Tom Sellek, framed and convicted by two dirty cops for a bust gone wrong, and Tom has to figure out the upside down prison life when almost everyone wants a piece of him and he wants to just live his life in peace. Absolute great film, HUGELY under rated.
Sleepers
One of the most underrated movies of all time in my book. Highly emotional and expressive, this film is very very dark. Four innocent boys make a life changing mistake when a prank goes wrong and they get sent to a prison for young offenders. In the prison the guards are supposed to protect the kids but they do anything but that.
Lucky Number Slevin
Have you ever heard of a Kansas City Shuffle? This movie I'm surprised wasn't a huge hit, but sadly it's not as well known as it should be. You'll be as confused as I was watching it. In fact, it's what keeps you intrigued. The whole way through, because you have zero clue what's going on! It's mental. But at the same time awesome.
Fascinating film!!!
