I won't waste time on this one, because, it's an absolute disaster!
I know Nollywood wood movies are known to underdeliver but lately, I have been seeing Nollywood movies performing well in the industry, and with the people, but this movie just vexes me.
The movie, Glamour girls is a story about a couple of women, Emmanuella, Jemma, and Donna. And a focus on the lines they are willing to cross to taste and continue to live a glamorous lifestyle.
From the name of the movie, Glamour girls, one would be expecting to see something more like sex in the city or more like hustlers but this movie was unable to create that concept in my mind, maybe because it is a Nollywood movie or maybe because it was just badly told. The only thing they succeeded in doing was portraying a woman of power, as well as, a woman who is desperate to live a glamorous lifestyle and would do anything to have her way. And even after managing to develop these plots they still ended up ruining everything.
I think the problem with this movie's plot was that it was trying to be everything all at once. It was trying to pass on so many moral lessons at several points that it ended up becoming complete nonsense.
Emma, Jemma, and Donna had their introduction properly told, and the story behind their reason was dished out properly but the conflict seemed a little too much for the writers to handle as they ended up confusing us instead of resolving the whole issue clearly and understandably.
The cinematography is still at its experimental stage, nothing fancy, nothing exciting. The camera had no unique angle when telling the story, in fact, I believe it contributed to the confusion and disaster at the end of the movie.
The cast were just random Hollywood wannabes which made them perfect for the movie, none of the characters were extraordinary in any way, all they had were looks that were very much deceiving but if the movie aims to say, "hey, looks can be deceiving", then it did a good job.
Finally, I have a great passion for watching the Nigerian movie industry thrive and succeed, and I have seen some good quality Nigerian movies that do pass the test. But this is not one of them.
But then again I have no power to tell you what to do or not to do, and if you wish to watch this movie anyways, I suggest you do a little prayer before you start, hopefully, you will enjoy the prayer enough to ignore the movies gaping wide mistakes.
Yh, that's because it had a powerful beginning but, the conclusion was just a disaster....can you really say you understood what the ending was all about??
The trick with the flash drive? and Jemma's story with the missing accountant?
