3 advantages you get in Business class over Economy (Lufthansa/Austrian)

Zahlt es sich aus in der Business-Klasse mit Lufthansa/Austrian zu fliegen?

Habe nach London ein günstiges Business-Class Ticket mit dem Meilen/Bonuspunkte-Programm von Lufthansa bekommen.

Generell ist ein Business-Ticket tendenziell besser, je länger man fliegt. Captain Obvious.

Langstrecke > Kurzstrecke Business

Allerdings können die Kosten für die erste Klasse zwei bis dreimal so hoch sein wie für ein Economy-Ticket. Für Business-Tickets zahlt es sich aus, Meilen zu sammeln und dann auf Business upzugraden.

Diese drei Vorteile erwarten euch in der Business-Klasse von Lufthansa:

Erstens Priority beim Ein- und Aussteigen. Kein so langes Warten in Schlangen. Das spart Zeit und Nerven, vor allem beim Aussteigen.

Zweiter Vorteil ist, man bekommt mehr Platz und Beinfreiheit zwischen den Reihen, und hat einen freien Platz zwischen den Passagieren. Das hat zur Folge, dass man auch in den Ablagefächern über den Sitzen meistens mehr Platz hat, da (männliche) Business-Kunden auch oft mit weniger Gepäck reisen und sich mit weniger Passagieren die Ablagefächer oben teilen müssen. Noch ein Goodie ist, dass man bei Lufthansa/Austrian sogar zwei Koffer aufgeben kann, wenn man das möchte.

Und der dritte Vorteil, den ich am meisten schätze, ist das bessere Service, das wirklich sehr gut ist. Vielleicht so wie in der Economy vor 20 Jahren. Jeder bekommt Getränke und ein Meal inklusive, wobei das Catering von Do&Co (bei Austrian) auch deutlich besser als in der Economy-Klasse ist, wo ich auch mit dem Vorbestellen schon Probleme hatte. Und man bekommt in der Business-Klasse auch echtes Geschirr und Gläser, keine Plastikbecher. Das ist schon ein großer Vorteil, wenn einem das Essen an Board wichtig ist.

Insgesamt zahlt sich das schon aus, vor allem für längere Strecken, wenn man ein günstiges Ticket zum Beispiel über das Meilen-Bonusprogramm von Lufthansa bekommen kann.

Is it worth flying business class with Lufthansa/Austrian?

However, the cost of first class can be two to three times higher than an economy ticket. For business tickets, it pays to collect miles and then upgrade to business if you can.

These three advantages await you in Lufthansa business class:

Firstly, priority boarding and disembarking. No long waits in queues. This saves time and nerves, especially when disembarking.

The second advantage is that you get more space and legroom between the rows, and you have a free seat between passengers. As a result, you usually have more space in the overhead compartments above the seats, as (male) business customers often travel with less luggage and one has to share the overhead compartments with fewer passengers. Another bonus is that Lufthansa/Austrian even allows you to check in two suitcases if you wish.

And the third advantage, which I appreciate the most, is the better service, which is really very good. Perhaps like in economy class 20 years ago. Everyone gets drinks and a meal included, and the catering from Do&Co (on Austrian) is also significantly better than in economy class, where I've had problems even with pre-ordering. And in business class, you get real dishes and glasses, not plastic cups. That's a big advantage if food on board is important to you.

Overall, it pays off, especially for longer routes, if you can get a cheaper ticket through Lufthansa's mileage bonus program, for example.
