Da bin ich neulich über etwas richtig Schönes gestolpert! Eine alte BBC-Radioproduktion vom Herrn der Ringe aus dem Jahr 1981. ein echtes Juwel. Damals lief sie über mehrere Monate jeden Sonntag im Radio.

Ursprünglich waren es 26 Folgen, später hat man das Ganze zu 13 einstündigen Episoden zusammengeschnitten. Und das Beste: Man kann sie heute kostenlos als Podcast anhören!

Die Umsetzung ist wirklich großartig: dichte Atmosphäre, stimmungsvolle Musik, ein ganzer Cast an Sprechern, erinnert ein wenig an die deutsche WDR-Hörspielversion, falls ihr die noch kennt.

I stumbled across something really wonderful the other day! An old BBC radio production of The Lord of the Rings from 1981. A real gem. Back then, it was broadcast on the radio every Sunday for several months.

Originally there were 26 episodes, but later it was edited down to 13 one-hour episodes. And best of all, you can listen to it for free as a podcast today!

The production is really great: a dense atmosphere, atmospheric music, a whole cast of speakers, somewhat reminiscent of the German WDR radio play version, if you still remember it.
