"Talents are meant to be shared and this contest is an opportunity for all of us."
I started dancing since I was 4. My dad wants pushed me so hard for me to have interest in music but he failed. Every time he plays his guitar, my eyes would be on the television where group of girls are dancing. There was one time in summer, when I was alone in my grandparent's house, I locked myself in a room then played "Otso otso" and "Pamela one" (Famous opm dance music in PH) and dance my whole energy in there. Releasing all the dance steps with feelings, I forgot that the windows is open. When I accidentally looked in there, I saw my aunties, uncles and my grand father. I will never forget how their faces looks like holding their laugh.
So since I was a kid until elementary days, I was a huge fan of a girl group. I somehow wished to perform and it happened at Grade 5. My father listed my name without my consent in our barangay talents, and they grouped me in a girl group the same at my age. Can't forget the cringe costume I've ever had. HAHAHA I just can't show you guys the picture because it was developed and its in my photo album. (Old good days.. my parents were using digital camera and got it developed in a mall.. Can't forget how I was sooooo shy seeing myself in a public screen..)
When I was a freshman in secondary education, I got all my courage to dance alone. I auditioned in dance club wearing a black blazer and got my hair colored. (Cringe) Hahahaha. I chose hip-hop category that time and I was in top 3 so without any screening, I got it to be the 1st batch to join the junior and senior dancers in our campus. Starting the audition day, I forgotten about the girl costumes, my girl group and the pop music. I got addicted to hiphop.
When I got in to junior and senior high, I started to be the "only girl" in a group. We also started to compete in different dance groups inside and outside the school. I also started learning the real elements of hip hop and all of that. I graduated bringing the attitude so I pursued all of it. I attended difference workshops and dance classes. I have met a lot of inspirations and some aspiring dancers like me.
I reached my dream, to be known in my passion. To dance in different events. To show what I love in different stages. I also got to dance with different groups. And every dancer's dream is to represent not only our city but our Country. So when I got the opportunity, I answered big yes. We competed in Elite International Dance Contest. The winner in this competition will represent our country in Australia, HIPHOP International. My last and most important dance happened. I got my wish despite of not winning, dancing my feet on this stage is every dancer's dream. Bringing my city's pride is at utmost feeling.
Thank you for dropping by! ^___________^
Love,
Yhien
