Bachata Dance Cover - My Only One

▶️ Watch on 3Speak

As some of you know, I've been dancing the Afro-Latin Dance Bachata for about a year now! It was initially an outlet for me to get out from spiraling into depression but somehow it became more than that as months passed. I learned a lot about myself, deconditioned myself from being tense and critical, unleashed my sensual side, and used my sexual energy in a safe and creative endeavor. All these, I wouldn't be able to do if I didn't learn to dance again.

In this video, I'm with my ever-supportive dance partner Ziv. This was a spontaneous experience as I was "not me" sometime in May. You know those days when you just lose shit or your mind is just all over the place. And I was just feeling all these negative emotions! Most of the time, I do not know how to handle them when it becomes intense and I don't know the reason at all. Perhaps it was all those repressed emotions for the past years resurfacing.

So what I did was meet up with Ziv and just asked him to make an impromptu choreography. We made a lot of mistakes and we did a couple of takes so I just meshed up the raw footage to produce this one. When I think about it, dancing with Ziv at that time made me grounded and relieved even for just a couple of hours. Because in dancing, I get to forget all unnecessary thoughts and just get focus on the steps and music. I had fun and had a couple of laughs because of my mistakes.

This video was taken last May and was memorable since I turned 1 year in my dancing journey! 😊

Anyways, for all those struggling right now and somehow feeling lost, I do recommend you find to learn something new - perhaps learning the Bachata or delving into the world of art? Anything. You'll be amazed by the things you will learn about yourself and you'll fall in love with yourself even more!

Beautiful performance, I love Bachata. Regards from Peru!!

Thank you! 🙈😍

I loved it! I love that no matter how soft or slow the song may be (because I'm a little used to a lot of fast but still sensual bachata) the choreography looks amazing and with a very clean technique, I really liked it and I want to see more until I know more of your story about bachata, Thanks for your post I hope for more post here!

Thank you @dimeshana! Dancing a slow beat was a new thing since during our social dancing the songs always have a fast tempo! I think I'm more confident in posting my dance videos now! I'm planning to share one where I'm dancig Kizomba! 😊💃

I love it ate, sobrang lambot ng katawan mo sis. You did great!

Thank you pero it took me some time din to get to this point 😁! Do you dance too?

I can dance but not that really confident ate. But I can sing yun lang talaga. 😹

It's my first time to heard about Bachata Dance but it had similarities on other international dances like cha-cha, tango, waltz, Foxtrot, etc. Though the footsteps and hand movements are different, It's very interesting type of dance.

Weirdly enough, we grew up seing our grandparents dance cha-cha but when I recently tried it, I found myself alien to it. Couldn't quite get the beat. But yes, Bachata together with Kizomba is a different Latin dance which I think fits well with our modern times. ❤️💃😊
