Teatime with Yummy Mamak Food

Hello everyone! Today I'm going to share a post about my yummy teatime meal that I had recently. My family and I went to Batang Kali which is a mountain area. We went to a mamak restaurant for teatime because it was raining heavily and we thought it's better to take a break there instead of driving in risky misty roads with limited visibility.

This is the restaurant. It is called Al Bismi Maju and located in Batang Kali, Selangor, Malaysia. As you can see, it is a mamak restaurant. Mamak restaurant means restaurants of Indian Muslim cuisines and delicacies. They are very famous here for the simple yet yummy meals offered. The prices are also generally reasonable. This particular restaurant is new in town and looked nice from the outside so we went to check it out.

This is the counter area. They displayed some vintage utensils and antic goodies here. I actually forgot to take a closer photo. Perhaps I'll take better pictures next time.

As you can see on top are the pictures and names of some of the meals available here. To name a few, there were mutton curry, fried pomfret fish, chicken kurma, fried squids, chicken murtabak, rojak noodles and even cendol which is actually a dessert and not all eating outlets have it unless they specifically sell desserts.

This is what my mom ordered. It is called roti bakar. It is bread toast and the bread is given a generous spread of kaya, which is coconut jam. The boss himself prepared this one and we could all see him making it because the cooking area was open for everyone to see.

This is a cup of coffee ordered by everyone in my family except me 😅 I took picture of only one. The sugar level was reasonable and not too much like we see in many shops.

Here's my favourite drink! This is what I order 90% of the time we eat out. I usually prefer an iced beverage because I don't consume any iced drink at home at all although I like it. In fact we don't even have ice cubes at home because no one uses them. Anyway, this iced lime juice. I mixed it and waited for minute because they make it with warm water and add ice cubes to it.

This is the meal that my brother ordered. It is fried noodles. It's made with onion, garlic, ketchup, tauhu, fish cakes, eggs and some vegetables. A little lime is also given so we can squeeze it if we want some tarty taste. I always squeeze to the maximum because I like lime.

This is roti canai which is what my father and I ordered. It is a type of flatbread made of wheat flour. We took different curries though. I chose chicken curry and dhal which is made of lentils while he chose mutton curry instead of chicken. We have already had a meal at home earlier so we were not hungry and only went to the restaurant due to the bad weather conditions. That's we didn't order heavy meals.

Yes, I know they're not the same thing. But close enough as it involves dipping. I simply couldn't find a better bitmoji picture so I picked this 😅 The next time I go to this restaurant, I will order other items and take pictures of the ambience and the antic items displayed. Thank you for dropping by and I wish you have a great day ahead!
