Hi foodies, I have a story to share. Last day, I confused about what menu that I should to eat. Not in last day, even in every day I have always confused to eat. I'm little bored about same menu but sometimes I have eaten same menu cause I have no choice.

But Last day I thought about Nasi Briyani (briyani rice). So I searching Nasi Briyani in my favorite marketplace, Go Food. I ordered Nasi Mandi with Kambing Bakarica.

What is Nasi Mandhi

As I read in wikipedia the word "Mandhi" comes from the Arabic language, it's nada, which means dew. Dew is reflection from the moist, dewy texture of the meat.

But I know Nasi Mandhi comes from India cause in back then I worked in Bollywood Magazine so I know about Nasi Mandhi. In India Nasi Mandhi named Nasi Briyani. Nasi Briyani or Biryani is also popular in South Asian like India dan Pakistan.

Nasi Briyani is different from common rice cause the briyani comes from Basmati rice. Basmati rice has a longer and softer texture than regular rice.

What I've learned from the Indian diaspora that I've interviewed, is that it's very easy to cook Briyani. We have to just soak briyani rice in the water for a few hours then the rice would be softer than regular rice.

Bakarica comes from the words Bakar and Rica. Bakar is a method of cooking by burning meat, in this case meat from goats. Rica is a method of cooking with spices such as lime leaves, lemongrass, ginger, candlenut, and using spicy cayenne pepper as the main seasoning.

This is my first time tried the Kambing Bakarica. Actually they had another menu like Kambing Goreng (fried goat), Ayam Bakarica (Chicken Bakarica), and Ayam Goreng (Fried Chicken), but I chosen Goat Bakarica cause I'm unfamiliar with that menu.

I ordered Nasi Mandhi Kambing Bakarica dari Ahlinya Nasi Kebuli & Masakan Kambing (that restaurant have long named, hahaha). Besides Nasi Mandhi they also provide Nasi Kebuli. In the Nasi Mandhi that they were sell, the toppings they use are pickled pineapple, chips, peanuts, and raisins. All I know is that the toppings of Nasi Briyani or Nasi Mandhi have more. Just because I didn't like Emping (Raisin) and peanuts as topping, I left pickled pineapple in my food.

As my expectation, this Nasi Mandhi Kambing Bakarica was delicious. But the portion of the rice is too much so when the topping was run out, the rice is left.

For 1 pack of Nasi Mandhi Kambing Bakarica I paid IDR 56.500. or USD 3.92. It's kinda expensive if compared with another menu that I have always eaten but the middle east food surely more expensive. But for once eaten, it's okay. It's has been a while when last time I ate it. I thought it's about 2017. From all middle east menu or especially Indian Food, I really loved Nasi Briyani.

I think I will order it again in the next time cause their food is delicious. Might be I will ordering in payday again hahahaha...

You guys, have you eat Nasi Briyani or Nasi Mandhi?

I've never tried this before. Is it the same as nasi biryani?

If you read tou won't ask hahaha

Sorry kelewat 😂😂😂

I have seen something similar only in Indian movies

Yeah you're right. It's kinda same with Indian food cause India adopt Middle East culinar.

I never try Nasi Mandhi because I thought the texture was too much dry :D

It's literally have same texture from regular rice, it just have long shape.

But, I'm eating a smoother rice texture 🤣

As I said before that basmati rice can be smooth just only soaking for 1 - 2 hours. It's not like regular rice hahaha
