HOW TO PREPARE EFO RIRO

Efo riro is a special kind of soup commonly eaten in the Western part of nigeria. Efo riro is derived from the yoruba language."efo" which means green leaf vegetable" while the word "riro means to stir, which now means a stirred vegetable soup.

A specific kind of vegetable is been used to make this delicacy, this vegetable is locally know as "shoko",this vegetable has its unique taste that is why it is preferred,although spinach can be substituted with it if shoko is not available. It is prepared using this ingredients as follows fermented locust beans, shoko leaf,fresh pepper, cray fish ,onion,palm oil,seasoning,meat,fish and cow skin. This is basically just the I ingredients. The cooking method is sterred frying and semmering .A very rich pepper sauce is prepared and then the vegetable is now added to it to perfect the delicacy. This soup is cherished in the Western part of nigeria of which it can be used as soup , or as stew for any additive meal. It's a very nutritious meal as well I can call it a special recipe 😋.
