Hello dear friends. I bring you here a traditional Venezuelan Christmas sweet. It is dulce de lechosa or dulce de papaya. I hope you enjoy it
INGREDIENTS:
2 Kilos of green lechosa
1 kilo of sugar
1 teaspoon of soda powder
2 liters of water
1 teaspoon of cloves
1 big spoonful of cinnamon in stick
2 large spoonfuls of vanilla
The first thing to do is to remove the shell from the milkweed. Then, they should be cleaned inside of seeds and veins.
Next, the milky leaves should be cut into slices.
In a pot or tray, place the water with the soda and soak the milky leaves for 5 hours. After this time, wash the milky leaves well and put them in a pot. Pour the sugar without moving.
Cinnamon and cloves are added.
Cover and let it simmer for 1 hour without stirring. At the end of the hour, add the vanilla and stir a little with a wooden paddle.
cover again and leave it for approximately 2 hours or until the caramel is syrupy and the milky slices are honey-colored.
