Borassus flabellifer, commonly known as palmyra palm, tala palm, toddy palm, wine palm, or ice apple is native to the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia. The yellowish viscous fluid substance is obtained from a ripe palm fruit which is the main ingredient of making "taal-er bora". Today I am going to share this recipee with all of you.
Procedure of making :
1.Peel the fibrous, purple-blackish outer layer
2.Collect the yellowish, viscous fluid substance by adding a little amount of water while collecting. Adding of water help in collecting and it reduce the thickness. Make the thick paste into batter form just like this.
3.Add semolina
4.Add sugar according to your taste ( I have used palm candy)
5.Add coconut ; you can also use ripe bananas instead of coconut.
6.Add flour and mix well
7.Now make small doughs of the batter and fry them in hot mustard oil untill golden brown.
Ready to be served!
Hope you enjoyed. Thank you.
how interesting, i didn't know this fruit. what type of palm does it come from??
Borassus genus contains five fan palms among which this Borassus flabellifer is the one which is found in southern Asia, from India to Indonesia. The fan shaped tall tree bears fruits like that of a coconut tree. The pulp of this fruit is tender and the husk is fibrous similar to that in coconut. Palmyra fruits are edible in all stages. Each fruit consists of 1-3 seeds, each enclosed within a woody endocarp.
Wow apu... Khub interesting silo...!
