CHIFTELES - Romanian meatballs recipe (ENG/ESP)

Good afternoon everyone! Today I come to tell you about a recipe that a friend from Romania taught me, typical of his country. In many countries we eat the famous meatballs but in each place they are prepared in a different way.
In this case, the Romanian meatballs that I am going to prepare are called "chifteles" and are made with potato.

Buenas tardes a todos, hoy vengo a contaros una receta que me enseñó un amigo de Rumanía, típica de su país. En muchos países comemos las famosas albóndigas pero en cada lugar se preparan de una manera diferente.
En este caso, las albóndigas rumanas que voy a preparar se llaman "chifteles" y son con patata.

Ingredientes:
  • Carne molida
  • Huevos
  • Harina
  • Cebolla
  • Patata cocida
  • Zanahoria cocida
  • Ajo y perejil en polvo
  • Sal y pimienta
  • Aceite para freír
Ingredients:
  • Ground beef
  • Eggs
  • Flour
  • Onion
  • Boiled potato
  • Cooked carrot
  • Garlic and parsley powder
  • Salt and pepper
  • Frying oil

While I cook the potatoes and carrots, I put the ground beef in a bowl, add the eggs and the parsley, garlic powder, salt and pepper spices.

Mientras pongo a cocer las patatas y la zanahoria, pongo en un bol la carne molida, añado los huevos y las especias de perejil, ajo en polvo, sal y pimienta.

When the potatoes and carrots are cooked, remove them from the pot with water and cut them into small pieces, add them to the ground meat and mix.

Cuando tenemos las patatas y zanahorias cocidas, las sacamos de la olla con agua y las cortamos en trocitos, para añadirlas a la carne molida y mezclarmos.

We also add a chopped onion

Añadimos también una cebolla picada

Then let the mixture rest for a while, and start making the meatballs by shaping them into spheres, dipping them in egg and flour.

Después dejamos reposar un poco la mezcla, y empezamos a hacer las albóndigas dándole forma de esferas, pasándolas por huevo y por harina.

And finally, we fry them in abundant oil.

Y finalmente, las freímos en abundante aceite.

They are a calorie bomb, but they are very tasty and juicy and can be combined with a yogurt sauce or garlic sauce and they look great.

Son una bomba calórica, pero quedan muy ricas y jugosas y se pueden combinar con una salsa de yogur o salsa de ajo y les queda muy bien.

An interesting meatball recipe. In my country, meatball recipes mostly are served boiled first. Then served with clear soup and many complement such as veggies and chopped meat.

Yes, it is a dish that is prepared differently in each country, but it is always delicious. In my country, Spain, the most traditional recipe is meatballs in tomato sauce, and it is usually served with potatoes. 😄

these look awesome. The closest thing, I guess, I've had are the Bulgarian variety. Adding potatoes to a meatball is also a revelation I'd never thought of!
