En este mes de fiestas, alegrías y convivir en familia. Tengo el placer de compartirle un gran plato típico de mi querida Venezuela. Plato típico que no puede faltar en estas fechas decembrinas.
In this month of festivities, joys and family togetherness. I have the pleasure to share with you a great typical dish of my beloved Venezuela. A typical dish that can not be missed in this Christmas season.
La hallaca nació en las comunidades marginadas, durante la época colonial de Venezuela. Los esclavos negros e indígenas preparaban esta receta. Este es un plato hecho con masa de maíz , con el sabor de un caldo de gallina, y se colorea con onoto al gusto.
The hallaca; the hallaca was born in the marginalized communities during the colonial era in Venezuela. The black and indigenous slaves prepared the dish. This is a dish made with corn dough, with the flavor of chicken broth, and colored with onoto to taste.
El nombre de la hallaca proviene de la combinación de dos palabras; Allá (refiriéndose a los componentes del guiso que proviene de otros países) y Acá (refiriéndose a la masa y las hojas de plátano).
The name hallaca comes from the combination of two words; Allá (referring to the components of the stew that comes from other countries) and Acá (referring to the dough and banana leaves).
Este es el platillo más importante en la mesa familiar en tiempos decembrinos, en su ejecución representa la unión familiar y la encarnación misma de la navidad.
This is the most important dish in the family table during the Christmas season, in its execution it represents the family union and the incarnation of Christmas itself.
