Hello friends of Hive. Today am continuing my post on snail production. You can read my previous post on snail farming in Nigeri. Today i will talk about the various species of snail that are profitable for business in snail production.

There are several species of snails that are commonly used in snail farming, including:

African giant snail (Achatina achatina): This is the largest species of snail and is highly prized for its meat, which is considered a delicacy in many parts of West Africa. The African giant snail is also a popular species for farming due to its fast growth rate and high reproductive capacity.

Giant tiger land snail (Achatina fulica): This species is native to East Africa but has been introduced to other parts of the world for farming purposes. It is a popular species for farming due to its rapid growth rate and high reproductive capacity.

Archachatina marginata: This species is native to West Africa and is highly prized for its meat, which is considered a delicacy. Archachatina marginata is a popular species for farming due to its large size and high reproductive capacity.

Helix aspersa: This species is also known as the common garden snail and is found in many parts of the world, including Europe and North America. It is a popular species for farming due to its small size and ease of care.

Helix pomatia: This species is also known as the Roman snail and is found in many parts of Europe. It is highly prized for its meat, which is considered a delicacy, and is a popular species for farming in Europe.

When selecting a snail species for farming, it is important to consider factors such as the local climate, market demand, and regulatory requirements. Different species have different growth rates, reproductive capacities, and dietary needs, so it is important to choose a species that is well-suited to the local environment and market demand.
