Hello my dear Hive friends,
In a few days we have a special festival in my country, know as Sinhalese New Year.we have been getting ready for it. We are preparing lot of special food for this festival. So, Today I prepared my first dish Sinala Achcharu (pickle ) for Sinhalese New Year.
Ingredients
200 gr Red Onion
100 gr green chillies
100 gr carrots
50 gr papaya (half ripe)
1 1/2 tea spoons of mustard cream
1/2 tea spoon of pepper powder
1/2 tea spoon salt
1/4 tea spoon turmeric
100 ml viniger
Method
First clean the red onions properly, wash it well and keep it to drain the water. Remove the skins of carrot and papaya, wash them well and cut them in to thin slices. Wash the green chillies well and split them as shown in the picture .
Now pour the viniger to a pan and keep it on the fire. When the viniger is boiling put the green chillies and take it to the strainer after one minute.
Secondly put carrots to the pan and after few minutes take it to the same strainer.
Now put the papaya pieces and keep it for two minutes and take it in to the same strainer.
Finally put red onion keep it for few minutes and transfer to the strainer.
Now switch off the stove and add mustard cream to the balance viniger in the pan. Then add pepper powder, tumaric and salt and mix all the ingredients well as shown in the picture.
Add the red onion, green chillies, carrots and papaya pieces to the sauce and mix them well as shown in the picture.
Now Sinhala Achcharu ( pickle ) is ready .
My dear friends,
We can keep this pickle for more than one month to use. You can get more taste for keeping it so long .
We are taking this pickle with rice, milk rice. My husband like very much this dish.
