Happy Mother's Day French Toast

It's Mother's day in Japan so I wanted to make my wife a nice French toast breakfast.

Everyone has made French toast. It's an easy, but delicious breakfast to make, however a few simple ingredients can really add to the flavor. This recipe uses nuts & honey to achieve that.

What you will need to make 4 slices.

5-6 eggs (I used 7 because the eggs were smaller)
4 slices of bread, preferably thicker, English bread.
1/2 cup of milk
1 cup of mixed nuts(mixture is up to you, but almonds and walnuts are great)
Honey
1 banana
1 large tray to store the French toast.

A lot of this recipe can be adjusted to your liking by adding or subtracting ingredients.

Mix the eggs and 1/2 cup of milk together in a mixing bowl for at least one minute. You really want to get the white & yolk mixed so hardly any of the white(clear) is visible. You can also add more milk to your taste.

Next you will need a flat tray big enough to hold how ever many slices you are making. Dip both sides of the bread in the eggs, soaking them a bit, then set on the tray. Repeat this for each slice.

Once you've prepared all of the bread, put the tray in the refrigerator for 15 minutes. This allows time for the bread to really soak up the egg.

While the bread is marinating get your nuts out. Pour 1 cup of mixed nuts into a ziplock bag. Next you will break up the nuts with something hard.

Just kidding, a ladle will do the job with no problem.

Break them up just enough, don't pulverize them.

I broke them up a bit more than the photo above.

Next pour the nuts in a small mixing bowl and drizzle honey over them. Mix to your desired consistency.

Set the nuts aside and slice up a banana. By this time you should be ready to take the bread out of the refrigerator and start cooking!

This is actually the challenging part. You want the toast to be golden, but cooked inside as well. Applying pressure to the toast as it cooks helps. You have to monitor it constantly to get the perfect cook.

Once it is done, put it on a plate and spread honey across the toast evenly. Add the banana slices and nuts on top and you've got a delicious French toast.

No syrup is needed as the honey will make it sweet enough. However you can experiment, adding syrup, fruits, powdered sugar, etc.

Oh, and don't forget the flowers!

Happy Mother's Day ladies! You are appreciated for all you do.

Oh, this looks so good with the banana and nuts! The toast is a perfect golden color, too! Kudos! 😊

Thanks Kitty. It was the least I could do for a wonderful mother.

Wow this looks yummy! I'll try this too, I know my kids will love this! Thanks for the recipe 😁

You're welcome. The honey nuts make a great snack themselves. I gave the leftovers to my son and he loved them.
