in Foodies Bee Hive3 years ago (edited)

Hello, the HIVE community around the world, happy fasting for those who fulfill it. In this month of Ramadan, of course, Muslims are fasting from 4:30 am to 18:00 pm enduring thirst and hunger. This time my wife and I made traditional food and soft drinks for breaking our fast, called fruit ice, empek empek and bakwan, these traditional foods are often found in warungs, this food is really typical of Indonesians. Because the way it is made is very easy and the taste is very delicious and delicious.

Usually this traditional food is always made by every Indonesian to be enjoyed at every breaking the fast. Because the manufacture is easy and simple and can be made by everyone. Usually, to get this traditional food you buy at a shop, but in this fasting month, housewives can make their own because outside activities have decreased, such as reduced working hours or long holidays in this month of Ramadan.

This time my wife and I will explain how to make traditional food, namely making empek and bakwan.
The ingredients that must be prepared to make bakwan include:

  1. Wheat flour
  2. Col.
  3. Carrots
  4. Celery
  5. Water
  6. Salt
  7. Masako or Royco or micin
  8. Corn

In the first stage, my wife and I cut the cabbage, carrots, celery and corn into small pieces and a little bit lengthwise, when it's finished cutting the ingredients we make the flour dough mixed with water a little bit hot, mix until blended and don't let any flour. which is still in the form of flour. Then mix the fine salt and Masako or royko to taste, then mix well, then mix the cabbage slices, celery, carrots and corn into the flour mixture that has been made evenly. The next stage is frying bakwan. This stage is the last stage to make bakwan, prepare a frying pan, oil and gas stove. Heat the oil first on the pan, if it is hot, add one large spoon of bakwan mixture to the hot oil, for the size of the bakwan according to taste. Wait for it to ripen, it is brown in color. Making bakwan is very simple and easy, right?

Furthermore, how to make a soft empek, the ingredients that must be prepared to make this soft soft include:

  1. Aci
  2. Salt and Masako
  3. Young papaya or ripe feathers
  4. Water is half hot
  5. Brown sugar
  6. Red and white onions
  7. Chili

The first stage we make the Aci dough, this Aci is stirred with enough half hot water and salt or Masako, don't get too much water because we make it just to be wetted, the next step we cut the young papaya and then sauté it. Then the Aci dough is made like a plate and then filled with the papaya stir fry to taste then folded until the papaya stir is not visible, after that it is fried. The second stage we make vinegar from the crackers so that it tastes perfect, including the following, boiling water that has been mixed with brown sugar, onion, garlic, chili and salt, stirring until it boils perfectly, making this vinegar is very easy.

Next we make fruit ice, making fruit ice is very simple and easy compared to making bakwan and soft, we only need these ingredients, including:

  1. Milk
  2. Cucumber suri
  3. Watermelon
  4. Pears
  5. Dragon fruit
  6. Marjan syrup
  7. Ice

The first thing we do is peel the fruit to remove the skin and seeds, then we cut small boxes of the fruit, then prepare a bowl filled with pieces of the fruit then give milk, Marjan syrup and ice, then mix well. The fruit ice is ready.

This looks like an awesome time, reminds me of how my family and I eat here in Suriname. There are warungs everywhere here too because of Javanese immigration many many years ago.
