Pandesal is one of the most favorite breakfast and merienda here in the Philippines. You can pair it with anything like fried scrambled egg, margarine/butter, liverspread, pansit or just simple as dipping it with your hot coffee or hot choco drink. So Yummy!

Here's how i made my favorite "Homemade Pandesal" .

First, prepare all the ingredients needed.

300g Bread Flour/1st Class Flour
3 Tablespoon White Sugar
1/4 Cup Water
1/4 Cup Fresh Milk/ Evap Milk
1 whole Eggyolk
1/2 Eggwhites
3 Tablespoon Butter or Margarine
6g or 1/2 Tablespoon Instant Dry Yeast
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 Cup Bread Crumbs for coating

Let's get started!

  1. Put the bread flour on a large mixing bowl, then make three holes to add the yeast, sugar and salt.
  2. Mix the water and milk, add in the egg yolk and egg whites and mix well.

  4. Pour the milk-egg mixture and mix it until it comes together just like in the right photo below.

  5. Pour out the dough on a clean surface or a silicon mat, knead it while slowly while adding the butter/margarine.After 12-15 minutes it' s done , the texture should be smooth. Form the dough into a ball.
  6. Grease a mixing bowl with margarine/butter, put the dough inside and cover with cloth. Let it rise for 1 hour in a warm place.
  7. After an hour punch the dough, and flatten into a mat or clean surface to release the air and odor that formed during proofing. Form it into a log then cut into 17-18 equal sizes or just weight each piece in 30 grams.
  8. Form each dough into a small balls, roll it into the bread crumbs. Place it in a baking pan/tray, let it rest for 15 minutes. Pre-heat oven at 180°C and bake them for 12-15 minutes.

Serve it hot, enjoy!

P.S. This pandesal can stay soft and yummy for 3 days, just keep it in a sealed container or plastic. Unfortunately the pandesal i made last time was all gone while the baking tray is still warm.
