Oh I neer knew about the cross method, and cooking it in a pan is a good idea too. I'm thinking it'd be super easy to do in a dutch oven when camping. I love foccacia and I always make it if we're out of bread. I barely measure - I do 4 cups flour, a desertspon of yeast, a drizzle of honey, a big sploodge of olive oil, a big pinch of salt and warm water to mix into a dough. I'll be sure to use the cross method next time!

I suppose Dutch oven is also good if big enough. If you have an oven when camping, then it's the right one to do as it's very easy.

About your method, after some time it becomes routine and you don't need to measure the ingredients.

Thats true. What I like about bread is that's it's not as precise with measurements as cake. I hate making cake, it always turns out wrong fore 😂🤪

I can feel your pain. I have my cake recipe, which I got from a YouTube video and it's perfect form me as I've used it several times, but I know cakes can be tricky.
