Sometimes I want to make a quick delicious meal without spending hours in the kitchen. I'm sure I'm not the only mom who does this. And thanks for the 'pre-mix' spices that made our life easy.

Bangladeshi meals consist of a lot of spice mix and sometimes hours of marination. But here is a quick and simple Chicken Korma recipe that you can prepare in under 30 minutes!

Let's see.

Ingredients:

  • 1 Deshi/Local Chicken (cut into pieces)
  • 1 packet of Chicken Korma ready-mix masala. I used 1/3 of a packet of the 'Shan' brand.
  • 1/2 cup yogurt
  • 2 medium onions
  • 1/2 cup oil or ghee (for a richer taste)
  • 2 tablespoons ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tablespoon of peanut paste

The process is straightforward, I will show you the easiest way that you can apply in your busiest days.

The step-by-step process:

Add the onion, ginger, garlic, and peanut in the mixer and make a paste like this.

Add the oil to a pan and pour the paste you just made into the hot oil.

Add 2 tablespoons of the premix masala with the paste and cook it for 5 minutes.

Then, add the chicken pieces and cook until they turn light brown. Stir in the Chicken Korma ready-mix masala and coat the chicken well.

Cook for a couple of minutes until the masala blends with the chicken.

The premix usually comes up with all the hot spices like coriander seeds, cinnamon, cloves, saffron, cardamom, mustard seeds, fennel seeds, bay leaves, and red chili powder. If it's missing any of this you can add it separately with your curry.

Lower the heat, add the yogurt, and mix well. Pour in half a cup of water, cover, and let it cook on low heat until the chicken becomes tender. Stir occasionally to avoid sticking.

I added 2 teaspoons of sugar and 1 teaspoon of tandoori chicken masala to balance the taste according to us. It's totally up to you if you want to do this or not.

Almost done. It usually takes 15 minutes to cook thoroughly.

Cook until the oil separates.

It's done. Serve hot with naan/roti or rice.

I cooked some fragrant rice/Polao and added some pickle and cucumber slices and it's good to go in our hungry stomachs.

You see how easy the recipe is and how much less time it takes compared to the authentic Korma recipe. Yes, it will not taste the same. But I can guarantee you, it comes close to the original taste, I would say 8 out of 10.

It's okay for me to try something like this on a busy day yet when I'm looking for something delicious. My kid loves it and I think anyone will as it's not too spicy and goes best with any kind of side.

It must be really delicious 😋
I love how clear and well detailed the steps are... I look forward to seeing more of your post.

It's kind of a culinary delicacy here although I didn't follow the traditional recipe but a short cut one.
Thanks for your complement.
