Biriyani is something closer to our heart. The fragrance, the texture everything makes it mouthwatering. This is one of the best food to celebrate special occasions, serve to the guests, or to comfort ourselves!

I prepared Chicken biriyani for no special reason, or maybe I should say the weekend was the biggest reason.

Spice Alert!

As this is our traditional recipe we use a lot of local ingredients and spices that may not be available to your part of the world. But don't worry, you can find these in Indian shops near you. Or you can use 'ready mix' spices to make the process less complicated.

I'm not giving the long list of the ingredients to scare you off. Rather you can see this recipe on YouTube for the detailed ingredients and the process.

Let me share my step-by-step process.

I cooked the spices accordingly to put the chicken.

After that, the chicken goes in.

Added the ready mix biriyani powder.

Mixed them property and cooked the chicken for 20 minutes.

Some roasted potatoes for the biriyani.

Preparing the boiled water with spices for the basmati rice.

The rice is ready, strain them and let them cool.

It's time to add the biriyani powder with the rice.

Now we need to put the rice and the chicken into layers. Both are cooked, we just need to pass the flavors to each other.

Put the lid on and cook them in low heat for about 10 minutes. Then let it cook for another 10-15 minutes. This way the flavor will mix pretty well. Add some butter oil over the top before turning off the oven.

Before serving them, mix the rice and the chicken property.

And that's it.

I know this is not a simple recipe. It took me years after years to come to this perfect point. It all depends on our patience and learning from the last time.

If you tried preparing biriyani at home and failed; don't worry. Also, if you are gonna try then remember, you may fail like I failed many times. But every try is worth it.

Preparing biriyani at home is worth it. I can prepare it the way I want according to my taste. And it's always full of flavors. Our weekend became much more enjoyable because of the biriyani.
