Delicious Deshi-Style Chicken Fried Rice recipe.

If I say, we don't put Soy or Oyster sauce and even Sesame Oil in our fried rice would you feel offended?

Well, I'm not sharing the authentic recipe today but the way we usually prepare it. This version is very popular here in Bangladesh. Although, sometimes I add the authentic ingredients occasionally. But they are not part of Bangladeshi cuisine so the taste is not very loved by my family members. Don't get offended, okay?

Let me share our Deshi-style fried rice recipe.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of cooked rice (chilled, preferably a day old)
  • 1 cup boneless chicken, cut into small pieces and marinated with salt and chicken masala
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • Ginger and garlic paste/minced
  • 1 cup of carrot and 1 cup of finely chopped cabbage
  • 2-3 green chilies, chopped
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for frying
  • Tomato sauce

I know, the ingredients are a bit off from the traditional one. But this is what goes pretty well with our taste so we prepare it this way.

Step-by-step process:

Heat a little oil in a pan, add chopped onions, and fry until golden brown. Add the ginger garlic paste and saute for a minute.

Add the chicken pieces to the pan. I forgetfully added the vegetables and chicken at the same time. You don't make the mistake. But as it was marinated for quite some time the taste didn't get ruined.

First, add the chicken, cook it for a few minutes, and then add the vegetables; stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until the veggies soften.

Add some tomato sauce. You can add soy and oyster sauce and scrambled eggs if you like in this step.

Toss in the cooked rice, and mix them well. Add MSG if you want or some salt, green chopped chili, and combine the rice with everything.

Stir everything together on high heat to combine.

You can add a pinch of sugar to balance the taste. Also, you can sprinkle fresh coriander leaves on top if you like the taste.

The rice is ready to serve.

It's not an authentic recipe but our version. You can add as per your preference/what makes you happy. Just follow the basic instructions and you will get your preferred fusion as per your taste.

I made it in a way that it feels like soul food! The recipe is simple yet full of flavor and goes well as lunch and dinner.

Share with me what you think about my recipe. How do you cook fried rice and how do you prefer it? What sides do you usually add?

Looks delicious. My mother also makes similar dishes sometimes for me.
Whatever, I want to taste the fried rice you made. But it's not possible as I am far from your place😅.

Oo, I wish I sould share.
Well, it's not very hard to prepare, you can try it too.

We don't put those things in our fried rice too. In fact it is really just plain, with garlic and onion, with salt and msg 😆. So you are not the only one 😆🙉. I hope no one get offended no, haha. And you version looks delicious too. I can already imagine its yummy smell. 🤤

What a relief. I came across people on other platforms saying, I'm doing it wrong. But I believe, we can make food the way we want. At the end of the day, it's going in our stomach not theirs, right? lol

Thanks for your appreciation.

It's my first time to see fried rice with tomato sauce but it looks delicious! Thank you for sharing your recipe :)

hehe, I know. It's kind of wired but my son loves it this way.
Thanks :)

A good twist and I'm sure it's yummylicious :)

A very colorful and delious rice you have shared. No offense taken except that I want to taste it, haha.

That's great. I have come across people (well, not on this platform but on FB and Insta) saying, I'm doing it wrong.
I believe food is something we can make in our own way, there's no cultural appropriation needed. :)

Thanks for your appreciation.

Thank you for sharing your recipe, it looks delicious! I've not made fried rice in ages, it really is soul food! I like adding caramelized onions, mushrooms and bell peppers. Sometimes peas as well. I like the addition of chicken!

Fried rice is kind of a regular or even everyday meal for some. We use many types of veggies (whatever is available in the season) and different protein options.
It's great to see you liked my recipe.
Try some in the upcoming days. It will go well with the fall season. :)
Have a good day.

This fried rice look so tasty 😋😍😍

Thanks :) I really enjoyed it.
