We have a local tradition of arranging cookouts during the winter and the end of the year. You will get to see many family, friends, and neighbors cookout programs all over December. We arranged a family cookout on the 20th of December.
Let me share the photos.
Usually, every member has to pay a small fee to attend the cookout. The organizer/active member of the family collects all the money and enters the names of the members accordingly. And the important part is deciding the menu.
Sure others can input what they like. Because it's a shared activity. From shopping for the cookout to managing the place to do the activity, from cooking to saving; everything is shared in family members.
Can you guess the fun?
The cooking starts!
We decided to do the cookout in one of my aunt's newly constructed buildings. The work was still going but it's better than a household. Because we can have free space and do the dishes easily there.
My younger brother was the main chef. We were having Beef Tehari. It's a rice and beef mixed dish, almost like Biriyani. As you can see the fire oven was made out of brick and they used wood to make the fire.
Every other family member was involved in some helping. The small members were on duty to arrange the woods, the teens were doing the egg pealing and preparing salads, women were serving tea and light snacks, moms were frying the Tikia (beef kabab), and the male members were helping on the main cooking.
Everything was arranged and done from 7 pm to 10 pm. We gathered to eat at around 10 pm. We placed a huge mat for our 40 members. The children were the first to enjoy the food. We were serving, and later we all sat together and had a blast.
It was so much fun. I have met some family members that I haven't seen in years. Also, I have met some new family members as well like spouses and newborns.
The sharing, the joy, the hangout; this all makes the cookout great. It was not just a meal fest but a family get-together. This tradition brought us close and helped maintain the essence of family.
I wish to join many cookouts like this in the upcoming days.
I always love it when I get to meet family on occasions like this. The little downside is everywhere will be filled with a lot of people, and there might not be much space to move around but it is for the love of family.
I don't mind being around my family, especially my cousins. It's the fun that matters most, no?
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and support. Have a good day.
I can feel the vibes of the place because we also do the same in December. Unfortunately this time because of my sister's exam we didn't attend the program. Seeing this reminded me about the family program.
A winter picnic is a blast of fun. Don't worry, there will always be a next time.
