In Jakarta, noodles are one of the most popular staple food for breakfast. They are so ubiquitous and easily found in every neighborhood. Some of the highest-rated noodle shops that received good reviews are only open from 6:00 to 11:00, and some 24 hours.

As one of my favorite breakfasts, I have tried many noodle shops around Jakarta. This time my wife and I decided to try a new place at the back of a shopping complex about 10 km from where we live. The shopping complex is quite popular with the middle-up classes in West Jakarta. In the middle of the shopping complex, a big building accommodates many small shops and an open space with many stalls selling fresh vegetables and fruits, ready-to-eat food, and snacks.

To get to the noodle place, we had to go to the back of the shopping complex where there's a designated place for many different types of food stalls. There are many different kinds of shops inside this complex.

The noodle stall at the back of the complex along with other food stalls. This area is normally busy during lunchtime and in the weekends.
A simple setup where people sit on the benches to have their breakfast/lunch.
The big sign in front of the stall only advertises chicken noodles but this place also offers minced pork meat. So here's my order of chicken and minced pork meat noodles with some vegetables (Choysum) and scallions.
Unlike many noodle places that I have been to, this place was not stingy with its meat toppings. The noodles were perfectly cooked, and not soggy. The meat toppings were delicious, seasoned perfectly, and not too salty. The broth however was disappointing. It tasted bland, just like hot water seasoned with a dash of pepper and scallions. Should have boiled some chicken bones while making the broth. The total cost for 2 of us was only USD 5, cheap! Overall, I give a 7/10 for the noodle place.

I didn't know that Jakarta folks love noodles so much. Well, who wouldn't love noodles? They are so good especially with hot snd spicy broth. I bet you and your wife was totally enjoyed the new noodles you've eaten. The price is not bad. Very affordable.

Yes, Jakarta loves noodles, and we enjoyed our breakfast very much. Noodles' prices vary from as cheap as USD 0.7 to USD 5 depending on toppings and locations. It seems you like spicy food too. Thanks for reading.😀

I always refer to noodles as a comfort food. Noodles always go well with good spicy broth, but it's unfortunate their broth was bland which is suppose to be seasoned with spices. Those toppings looks mouth watering BTW. I enjoyed reading your post.

That marketplace really looks great! You can find whatever ingredient you want for preparing lunch... And it looks that your search for noodles at the end of the shopping complex paid off as the dish looks great!

Even though the marketplace is small but most important is its cleanliness. Besides fresh ingredients, this marketplace is also very popular and famous for its ready-to-eat foods and snacks. This is the third noodle place in this complex I have tried so far. There are a couple more places with slightly different style of noodles that also looks interesting, but that's for another time.
