Let's put our thinking caps on and go through a couple of scenarios, shall we?
Scenario 1
You're hungry and sharing a room with a barbecue, a living cow, a knife and a can of beans. What do you eat?
Most people in this scenario would leave the poor cow alone and just eat the can of beans. They don't want to be responsible for hurting and killing a sentient, living being.
Scenario 2
You're hungry and sharing a room with a barbecue, a living cow, a knife, a can of beans and a nice psychopath who's willing to murder and cut up that cow for you. What do you eat?
Most people would still leave the poor cow alone and just eat the can of beans. I might lose a few people here, but still, most don't want to be responsible for hurting and killing a sentient, living being.
Scenario 3
You're hungry and sharing a room with a barbecue, a living cow, a knife, a can of beans and a nice psychopath who's willing to murder and cut up that cow for you. This time, we'll give the nice psychopath his own room to do the nasty deed of murdering the cow. What do you eat?
It's getting trickier, but I would think atleast most females would still just eat the beans. I might be losing more men here though.
Scenario 4
In this scenario, we'll give the psychopath some friends, a shitload of cows and a big warehouse far, far away from you. You still have your choice of beans, instead of the dead cow on the barbecue. What do you eat?
This scenario is the reality we live in today and somehow, most of the people who ate beans in all of the previous scenarios, will happily have a dead cow for dinner tonight. Even though it is the same, poor, innocent cow and even though they could still just have eaten the beans (or something else).
Your choice when walking into a store is always a choice of having someone murder an innocent, sentient, living being for you, or just eating something else. It doesn't even have to be beans. The plant-based choices today are HUGE.
So, at which scenario did your morals change? And why?

I would eat the knife and BECOME THE BLADE OF JUSTICE! :O)
Thinking outside the box!
You always have to think outside the box! ;OD
Then probably you are going to murder the "nice psychopath".
Question solved. 😂
Hehe, there you go. I have found my meat! :OD
Have you noticed vaccination people are a lot like Vegans these days? Funny, they both start with V. Doesn't take but a few seconds and they'll let you know.
Those scenarios were real cool, we were stride for stride.
I don't eat beef either. Or pigs or chickens or.... But I would never expect everyone to wear their socks right side in like me.
Boo!!
Hmm, they do both seem to really trigger the 'afraid of changes' crowd.
You are more social, friendly and forgiving than I am, I'm afraid. I'll forgive the fact that people have been told lies as children, but as adults, I expect them to use their brains and compassion.
Too much to ask for, I know.
Have you ever tried it, socks right side in? Most commonly referred to as "inside out" but that's a deterrent like thinking. If it was called right side in I wouldn't be so alone on this one.
I usually put them "Inside in", or "Outside out". I am not sure where to put that 'right side' 'in'... and then what to do with the left side? You make socks very confusing.
Well shit, now I'm confused. Instead of inside out, I call it right side in but not right as in direction, right as in not wrong, right? Well if that doesn't clear things up I'm not sure what will.
But inside out is not the right side in. So others use the wrong side in?
Yes!! You're smellin what I'm steppin in with comfortable socks. But I think inside out should be called right side in that way right can just be right like it's supposed to be. If socks came from the factory right side in like I wear all mine which means I have to reverse them from factory settings upon receiving, nobody would think right side in is inside out and I'm truly blown away this conversation from where it was is where it's at now.
My socks are not leather by the way, just thought I'd throw that in or out.
Nice psychopath? Hahaha.
Do we have a stove/heater (or even fire) to cook the meat? 😂
Okay, put the joke aside.
When I walk into a store, then I do not have that kind of choice, because the meat is already there. The animal is already murdered, and the meat is already prepared (or even being roasted, served as "ready to eat"). Just because I choose "something else" (not meat) to buy and eat, someone, somewhere is still going to murder "a shitload of cows" (and many other animals) anyway. It is not like as if I would ask them to kill them.
But I know people, who breed rabbits to kill and eat them. It is their choice. If I choose a can of beans (or a roasted chicken), then that is my choice. But my choice (in this case) is not going to change other people's choice. Everyone have their own choice.
Of course I would not ask directly a psychopath, nor anyone else to kill any animal, but they will still do it. They will still transfer the meat to the stores.
Buying meat in a store is not a question of moral, but directly asking someone to kill an animal for you, while you have something else to eat, is.
That's simply not true. These animals are being killed, because there is a market for it. Sure, if you, personally don't buy one package of dead animal, not much would change, but if you and many others with you decide to only buy plant-based alternatives, leaving the dead animal packages to rot, the store will buy less dead animals next time and will look for a bigger variety of plant-based alternatives. If less dead animals are being bought, less animals will get raised and murdered, because the market will simply shrink.
So yes, the choice of every single one of us is one of life and death. If our preferences change, the products being produced will change. It's all in the hands of the consumers.
Would probably eat the cow since I don't like beans 😅
Oh no! How about a bowl of veggies? 😅
I barely eat vegetables, I need a lifestyle change I know.
