BANGA SOUP/STEW

in Foodies Bee Hive2 years ago

Good day all. I'm here to talk about a special delicacy that I like so much. It's called banga soup in Yoruba and ofe agwu in Igbo language. It can be used to eat rice and beans, while others use it to eat eba or fufu or other things in their different tribes. In my culture we use it to eat mainly white rice.

My husband isn't a fan of this kind of stew, that is why I hardly prepare it. He prefers tomatoe stew. But then my kids visited my mom last weekend and she entertained them with banga stew and so they begged me to cook the stew for them. Well, with the permission of my hubby, the following day i went to market and bought necessary ingredients for the stew. First of all, I bought palm fruits.

Seeds of palm fruits I bought from the market, big and reddish.

Preparation
Unlike tomatoe stew, preparing this kind of food takes time. The palm fruits must be cooked so that it will be easy to pound it.

I am pounding the palm fruits.

Using my hands to squeeze the chaff so as to get the real oil.

My meat
Before now, I have brought out the meat, stock fish, onions, maggi, pepper, crayfrish, etc. Ready.

Crayfrish and maggi.

To get the perfect taste I need, I will cook all those ingredients together.

.

Everything needed is now ready for the banga stew or ofe agwu. My rice is on fire simultaneously with the stew. My kids are smiling and happy. They know that very soon yummy food will be dished out. Within few minutes say 50 minutes or less the stew is ready to be eaten. Hot, spicy and yummy.

My kids ate and were satisfied beyond compare. Even my husband tried it and liked the stew as well.

The joy of every mother is satisfying the needs of her family members especially in feeding them. Am so happy in doing that.

Thanks.
