Picadillo(mincemeat) is a classic in Cuban cuisine and in this quarantine many families were forced to innovate,we were losing our appetite because of always eating the same thing.
I must be honest, the original idea is mine, the hand behind this wonder belongs to my grandmother. Without further ado, the recipe.
Ingredientes para 4 personas:
1 Kg de carne molida o picadillo,como lo llamen en tu pais.
2 Cebollas
2 Dientes de ajo grandes
2 Pimentones rojos
2 Huevos
½ Taza de pan molido.
Sal y pimienta al gusto.
Perejil al gusto
Jamón al gusto
Queso al gusto
Ingredients for 4 people:
1 Kg of ground meat or minced meat, as they call it in your country.
2 onions
2 large garlic cloves
2 red bell peppers
2 Eggs
½ cup of ground bread.
Salt and pepper to taste.
Parsley to taste
Ham to taste
Cheese to taste
Procedimiento// Procedure
1-En un recipiente añadir la carne molida, las cebollas picadas bien pequeñas, el ajo triturado, el pimiento igualmente picado,los huevos batidos,el pan molido, perejil, sal y pimienta al gusto. Mezclar todo esto con un utensilio o con las manos hasta que quede todo bien homogeneo.
1-In a container add the ground meat, the very small chopped onions, the crushed garlic, the equally chopped pepper, the beaten eggs, the ground bread, parsley, salt and pepper to taste. Mix all this with a utensil or with your hands until everything is well homogeneous.
2-Sobre un pedazo grande de papel aluminio o nylon se extiende la mezcla anterior, en forma de rectángulo sin que quede muy ancho
On a large piece of aluminum or nylon foil, spread the previous mixture, in the shape of a rectangle without being too wide
3-La parte divertida es esta, donde se coloca una capa de jamón y una de queso,ambos picados en lascas finas,y con la ayuda del nylon o el papel aluminio enrollas la preparacion, siempre velando que no quede nylon o papel enrollado
The fun part is this, where you place a layer of ham and one of cheese, both chopped into thin flakes, and with the help of nylon or aluminum foil you roll up the preparation, always ensuring that there is no nylon or rolled paper left.

Si tienes horno
Se lleva al horno por 45-50 minutos a una temperatura de 180 ºC. Luego de los primeros 20 minutos se le debe dar vuelta al rollo, se deja hornear por otros 20 minutos más y se procede a abrir el papel de aluminio, se deja en el horno por el tiempo de cocción restante.
If you have an oven
Bake for 45-50 minutes at a temperature of 180 ºC. After the first 20 minutes, the roll must be turned over, let it bake for another 20 minutes and proceed to open the aluminum foil, leave it in the oven for the remaining cooking time.
Si tienes microwave
Se lleva al micro por 15 minutos. Luego se le debe dar vuelta al rollo, se pone por otros 15 minutos más y se procede a abrir el papel de aluminio,y asi sucesivamente hasta que esté cocido.
If you have microwave
He takes the bus for 15 minutes. Then you must turn the roll, put it on for another 15 minutes and proceed to open the aluminum foil, and so on until it is cooked.
5-Acabado de sacar y aún caliente añades unas lascas de queso muy finas para que se derrita encima, añade salsa de tomate o ketchup al gusto, y alguna ramita de una plata aromatica para el toque final.
After removing and still hot, add some very thin slices of cheese to melt on top, add tomato sauce or ketchup to taste, and a sprig of aromatic silver for the final touch.
6-Luego, se deja reposar unos minutos antes de cortar las rebanadas. Puedes acompañar esta receta con arroz o papas y una rica ensalada.
Then, let it rest for a few minutes before cutting the slices. You can accompany this recipe with rice or potatoes and a rich salad.
