It's been years since I've communicated with some of my best friends from college and I haven't seen them since college ended in 2016. Yesterday we held a small reunion at the house of one of my old college colleagues. We were quite close when we were in college, but as time went by we had to continue our respective lives in different areas. My friends now have families, on average they are married and have children who have started to grow up. However, I and one of my friends are still single and we still enjoy the beautiful solitude of gathering with their small families.
The theme taken from today's reunion event is a picnic, why we prefer a picnic yeah this is because all my friends bring their children. We made the event family time so that the children were comfortable playing in the shady garden in the yard of my best friend's house.
I arrived around 3pm when my best friend had already set up mats and a few tables with various food available. He prepared a lot of delicious food on the table, I started looking around and taking pictures.
The food provided was in the form of side dishes eaten with rice of course, there was calamari pheip, chicken soup, as well as bone soup, fried chicken, and pergedel.
All these types of food are side dishes that are eaten with rice, I started to add a spoon of rice, by adding a spoon of squid pheip. Well cumi pheip is a specialty of the Aceh region squid cooked with yellow spices, and the addition of spices such as curry leaves plus pieces of potatoes in it. Adding a distinctive and very delicious flavor, it feels very natural that the squid is perfectly cooked without a single bit of toughness.
For chicken soto and bone soup, the taste is quite dominant, I like the bone soup, the soup is very soft and savory. Likewise with chicken soup, the yellow sauce adds a different flavor than I usually eat, the chicken meat is shredded added with pieces of spring onions very delicious.
I also tasted the pergedel and fried chicken, I was curious that the pergedel was quite jumbo. But the taste is very good, the potatoes are evenly cooked and the outer skin is very soft. Another one is the fried chicken in dry fried very juscy I like the texture is perfect not hard and not too soft. Even the kids loved it so much they enjoyed it with relish!.
After eating the rice, I tasted a bit of dimsum and also fried noodle dumplings, everything was very complete on this table.
I started to put the dimsum into the bowl and added the sauce. Ahh it was delicious, the sauce was my favorite, the spiciness was great. If I had eaten rice with no spicy flavor at all, the dimsum sauce was quite gregetan to increase my appetite again. Hehehe.

Unlike the dumpling noodle dimsum this time, more to sweet and savory, the chicken shreds are very much cooked with spices. I added a bit of meatball soup to the noodles and did not forget the dumpling crackers that have become a trademark.

The noodles were very good although a little sweeter but the texture was softer than the wonton noodles I enjoyed. What I like most about the noodles is that the dumpling crackers are very crunchy and savory.
Well last is dessert with cold drinks. Chocolate banana sponge is my best friend's family's favorite sponge. This sponge cake is made from bananas but coated with chocolate jam, the taste is delicious and the most important thing is that the texture is very soft.

My best friend bought it at her regular cake shop, she said this cake is very delicious and has a lot of fans. I was very lucky to be able to taste it, but still I tasted one piece because I was very full.
I'm so happy to be able to taste all the food here, everything is delicious but my favorite is the pheip squid and dimsum, they are very delicious. I even asked my best friend for the recipe and I will make it at home later.
After tasting various dishes we started chatting about many things. Occasionally there were funny moments by my best friend's children there. They were very happy to be able to play freely in this cool and spacious yard. I was also very happy to be with them again. Even the happiest moment was when we talked about how our lives are now, there were joys and sorrows in the story. But still, it all became a support and re-energized us in the future.
