Preparing Okro (draw) soup and Eba(garri) in simple steps

in Foodies Bee Hive3 years ago (edited)

This is a very special dish amongst nigerians. It is popularly called draw soup because of the okro and ogbono added, it is very slippery but also tasty.

I ate the soup with garri but you can eat with semovita, wheat flour or even fufu.

The ingredients

  • okro
  • ogbono
  • osuza leaves
  • salt
  • meat
  • skombia fish
  • periwinkle
  • palm oil
  • cameroonian pepper
  • crayfish
  • maggi cubes
  • onions

Firstly, I steamed my fish and meat with a two maggi cubes, onions, salt and pepper. I did this for at least thirty minutes.

Next was cooking the palm oil before adding the steamed meat and fish, however I added the osuza leaves last. It is common to add leaves last when cooking soups. That was I was taught, you could try it a different way .
I added crayfish, ogbono and my Okro.
I let this cook for about fifteen minutes.

A combination of different proteins for a soup, I haven't tried it yet. Here combining fish with meat is called cruzado.

Cheers!
