How To Make Bhindi Masala Curry

Bhindi masala curry is a popular Indian curry that is filled with flavour, tastes delicious and is also healthy unlike many other curries. This vegetable curry is made with fried okra, common household spices, onions and tomatoes. A simple okra fry recipe that is quick to make and is sure to be a hit with everyone. This bhindi veg curry can be served warm with plain naan or even with a side of boiled basmati rice.

Ingredients:

500g Bhindi (Okra)
100ml Olive Oil
2 Onions
3 Tomatoes
1 tsp Salt
1 tsp Chilli Powder
2 tsp Turmeric Powder (Haldi)
2 Bullet Chillies
50ml Water

Method:

  1. In a large pan, add the olive oil and the okra once the oil is heated
  2. Sauté the okra for 5 minutes
  3. Remove the okra and set aside
  4. In the same pan, add the chopped onions and cook for a few minutes
  5. Add the tomatoes and cook until softened
  6. Add the salt, chilli powder, turmeric powder and chopped bullet chillies
  7. Stir and allow to cook for 5 minutes
  8. Add the water and cook for 5 minutes
  9. Add the okra and cover with lid then cook for 15-20 minutes
  10. Serve warm with fresh homemade plain naan!
