The Canh Dong - A Unique Restaurant In The Rice Field

Hello friends, today I return to the Foodies Bee Hive community to introduce to you a unique restaurant in my hometown. It's called "The Canh Dong", the reason it got this name because it is a restaurant located in the middle of rice fields, giving customers a peaceful experience of the countryside. Here you not only can both enjoy delicious food, but also enjoy the airy and cool atmosphere amidst the peaceful landscape. It is located 436 Hai Ba Trung street, Cam Son Ward, Hoi An city, Quang Nam province, about 20km southeast of Da Nang. It took us about 30 minutes by motorbike. It rained lightly today, after the rain finished, the sky became cooler, so we decided to ride a motorbike down to Hoi AN to enjoy the food at this restaurant which is highly recommended for various and good food. There are many ways to get down to Hoi An, we chose the road along the sea to go because this is my favorite route when going down to Hoi An. The sky was a bit overcast but after a while it became very beautiful with the ghostly pink color left over by the sun.

After a little rain, the sky also started to darken, my friend and I took advantage of taking a few pictures, the sky still had some pink light in the west, it seemed to signal the sun was about to set. Enjoying the fresh air and the beauty of the sunset at the end of the day makes me feel very comfortable after a busy day. Since it is outside the city area, there are many fields on both sides of the road, so the scenery becomes more beautiful this afternoon. Finally, after 30 minutes of riding a motorbike, we arrived at the restaurant.

We parked the motorbike outside and then entered the restaurant. The kitchen is located in front of the restaurant, it looks very large, there are many chefs here to make attractive dishes for customers. The restaurant has an advantage of location because in the evening there are many tourists from Da Nang and from Hoi An ancient town come here to dine. There are many lights hanging from the ceiling to create a cozy feeling when dining with family, friends and relatives. The decoration here is also quite simple, it is in harmony with the simple space of the countryside, creating a very peaceful feeling. Because the restaurant was full of customers, we had to wait a long time for our foods. Since there were 2 of us, we ordered some of the best sellers here to try.

The first dish I would like to introduce to you is bamboo-tube rice, this is a very unique dish and one of the Northwest specialties you must try once in your life. Rice is washed and put into bamboo tubes, then people will bake bamboo tubes on charcoal until cooked. When eating, we have to split them in half and start enjoying. Rice is extremely flexible, used with a special salt to create an extremely delicious taste. This is the most popular dish in the restaurant.

The second dish is grilled fish served with sour salad. This is the dish that suits my taste best here, if I come back next time, I will definitely order this dish. The charcoal grill of the fish is very fragrant, especially I really like the moderate saltiness of the sauce, everything is perfect for me. Besides, I also like the crispy taste of the fish when it's freshly grilled, I thought this dish was great with beer, but since we had to drive back to Da Nang, we just ordered coke.

This is a stir-fried eel with turmeric, a very popular dish in my countryside. I remember when I was young, there was a small lake near my house, the water was not too deep, so I often followed my father to the ponds to catch eels and crabs. After each flood season, there are a lot of eels, crabs and fish in this lake, so my father often goes to catch them to cook delicious food for the family. This dish is extremely familiar to me, so when I came here I immediately ordered this dish to eat. Still the familiar taste, a bit spicy and salty, so I like this dish very much.

As I said above, crab is also a dish that I often eat when I was a child, it is processed in many ways to create many delicious dishes. My mother often makes it into hot pot to eat with vermicelli, it's really delicious. Today I tried the fried crab with tamarind here, because I have never tried it before, for a person who likes to eat salty and spicy like me, this dish does not suit my taste, because its taste is not enough salty for me.

This is a dish I recommend you try when you have a chance to come here. The chicken curry here is extremely delicious, everything blends together to create a rich flavor. Really good!

The last dish I would like to recommend to everyone is hot pot. It is cooked in a large pot with a variety of vegetables. The broth is extremely fragrant, the taste is just right, the vegetables are fresh, the crabs are plentiful, everything makes for an extremely delicious dish.

We feel very full because we ate a lot of dishes, I am extremely satisfied with today's meal, it really didn't waste time to drive down here to enjoy the foods. The prices here are also reasonable, not too expensive like in other restaurants. After eating, we continue to run into Hoi An for a walk, we return to Da Nang at 9pm.
