Thats a lot of Brezel and to be honest although German, I have never heard of this tradition :-D Here we have „Eiserwaffeln“ as New year. Kind of ice cream cones but without anything inside them. I think your Brezeln are a much more beautiful tradition especially as yours turned out so beautiful.
I am currently reading a borrowed baking book (breadsong) and already made some new breads and a Flammkuchen… I am in baking mood.
