[Blog #89] Mega Bomb Recovery Smoothie

Heeeyho Readers! Quick post to share a powerful smoothie!

The photos aren't great, pardon for that.

My cellphone struggles with low-light photos, so let's concentrate on the smoothie rather than the visuals. Shall we? I believe this recipe is so beneficial and healthy that I decided to post at the last minute before having my afternoon meal. That explains the rush.

I had a mountain bike marathon yesterday — qualified 9th overall against the strongest dudes in town, yey! The race was brutal, with mud, strong headwinds, and a light breeze. One of the most important aspects to perform well is to eat what our body needs. During the race I keep a carbohydrate intake of 60g per hour. That, along with body fat, is enough fuel to keep on pushing. For recovery, however, I like to add protein for muscle reparation.

The recipe on this post is what I generally eat after a race or afternoons on training days. It's a mix of vitamins, carbohydrates, fat, and protein.

  • 1x tbs peanut butter

Throw everything into the mixer and bang! It should fill a large glass.

Warning: This smoothie is a hella caloric. If you are trying to lose weight, consult a nutritionist.

About the mega mass: There are hundreds of brands of supplements out there. The one I use is a mix of whey protein, creatine, maltodextrine, BCAA, Magnesium, Zinc, and more vitamins. As the name says, it serves to supplement what's already being consumed.

Caloric count (aprox.)

As a cyclist, I consume a ginormous amount of calories; reason why smoothies are my favorite. A full glass of the Mega Bomb Smoothie gives:

  • Banana (~100 Kcal)
  • 2 scoops of mega mass (~116 Kcal)
  • 1 tbs peanut butter (~156 Kcal)
  • 1 tbs oatmeal (~60 Kcal)
  • 1 tbs chia seeds (~55 Kcal)

Total = ~480 Kcal

I added the ingredients on MyFitnessPal to check. Here's the result:

Other than the macro nutrients, this smoothie is great to boost our immune system, especially if you practice exercises.

I hope you've enjoyed.

Peace.
