Tapioca snack is made from cassava and you need just a pinch of salt as it's only ingredient;fresh or dry pepper maybe. Sounds odd right? Hahahaha...from the days of old,our fore-fathers sticked to just salt,or pepper. I'd rather do salt....hahaha
So how is this traditional snack made?
Step 1 - peel your cassava
Step 2 - rinse properly
Step 3 - Slice into big sizes
Step 4 - add water and place on heat
Step 5 - sieve water, rinse and sieve again
Step 6 - Slice into tiny pieces -stick form.
Step 7 - Add water in a bowl, pour in tapioca snack and cover lid.
Step 8 -next day,at anytime usually mornings, rinse tapioca snacks, until the water is no longer starchy.
Step 9 - take out quantity you will consume immediately, add salt to taste.
Preserve the remaining in a bowl of clean water.
So your Tapioca Snacks is ready. I often like to take mine with coconut, any nut especially groundnut or dry fish-yummmmmmy!
Make sure to rinse every morning before consuming. It is preserved overnight and not eaten immediately so it can ferment making it suitable for consumption.
This traditional snack supports weight gain and is a great source of iron and calcium.
I heard it is available in flour and chips form. I am yet to see it but I am already imagining how tasty it will be. Heard the flour can also be used to thicken meals apart from taking it alone.
Why not make you some tapioca Snacks? You'll love it.
