Who would have thought that I would find a Chilean place in vientiane?

I haven’t had burrito for many months and was craving it. In Thailand, I just couldn’t really find it nor I was really looking for it. I mean, in thailand I went to Taco Bell and fuck that!
It was the most horrendous meal I’ve ever eaten in my life and overpriced too!
I don’t know why people go to Taco bell. Maybe it’s cheap in the states?

In Vientiane, while I was browsing for places to eat, I stumbled upon this place serving latin american and chilean cuisine which is apparently owned by Lao-Chileans. It took me about a couple days before eventually going there as I kept waking up at odd hours and kept missing the opening time as it closed at 6PM. When I went there, the place was empty but their display was also stacked with cakes and desserts.

I went through their menu and they sell not only taco but also burrito with various alcohol and some wine selections. They also play latin american music that just puts you in the mindset that you’re in Latam, dining in and will be served the best taco of your life. Well… it wasn’t entirely wrong.

Best and Cheapest Taco

They served a couple of tacos and it was extremely reasonable. It was served with a generous amount of meat, cheese and the fish taco was similar. For less than $2 you can get delicious taco. It was also the best I’ve eaten so far with fluffy bread and the salsa that was just right. The meat was also juicy and I came back home feeling so happy that I got to eat the best meal for cheap.

Classic Tres Leches

I ended the meal with another $1.5 slice of tres leches. It was a sugar bomb but it was amazing. The cake was sweet but also not overpowering sweet. Just the right amount of sweetness to wash down the savoury taste from tacos.

I left the place happy and was shocked to find how they managed to keep prices quite low. Anyway if you’re traveling to Laos, don’t forget to check out Bacan Cafe in Vientiane. This is their address: Rue Samsenthai, 100 03, Vientiane 01000

@jlufer thanks for checking this out!

I don’t know why people go to Taco bell. Maybe it’s cheap in the states?

It use to be now it's not so much anymore and the quality like you mentioned, sucks 🤮 $10 use to get bags full of food now for the same price you get 1 combo meal with little change back.

I've been to a few Latin/Hispanic restaurants. I love how many of them play music to match the theme. Also quite a few of them are affordable and provide good quality food.

@coolmidwestguy eww I still wonder why people bother going there. I mean, I wouldn't go there again even if it's free. I think it's always better going to family places than fast-food which actually it's just saves time but not necessarily money :) since in SEA, generally fast-food aren't that cheap for locals.

It's amazing to me fast food joints. A family of 3 can spend $30 to $40 to eat depending on which place. Go to family place maybe spend a little more but get served on. A lot of fast food places aren't fast like they use to be either. I totally agree just going to family restaurant.

yeah, I love supporting locals and especially if they're really good :D

Hi @macchiata
Wow, the food looks so good and you clicked some nice shots. Thanks for sharing with us
Do you know, we have today's theme as foodiefriday on LeoThreads and you can share anything like a picture, an idea, a thought, or anything that you like.

@reeta0119 you're welcome.

Greetings my dear, those tacos look very delicious, I'm glad you enjoyed them and not to mention the tres leche slice, it looks exquisite.

Thanks for sharing with us.

@carmary yes! my favorite part was definitely tres leches. It makes me want to learn how to make it :)

No doubt, tres leches looks and tastes equally amazing. And the tacos looks superb.😋

@netswriting yess. I was supposed to eat burrito but the tacos were tempting. I ended up getting them instead burrito :D

Oooh that's so mouthwatering, the layers of bread make me hungry,😋😋

@xoxois right! I'd love eating them more :D too

Yummy😋😋😋

Yummy yummy yummy 😋

yes!! it was definitely yummy :D

There has been a few places here that leaned more towards Guatemalan food rather than just Tex-Mex. It's amazing and has a much "fresher" taste and not as heavy.

That looks delicious!

it really was!

Ohhh! Mac those tacos look pretty good, around here we don't have good tacos, I've read in many places that Taco Bell sell the worst burritos and tacos in the world 😅, but here we don't have Taco Bell, however the ones I've tried here seem to be just as horrible.

I can't believe it! 😱 I swore the tre leches cake was Venezuelan hahahahahaha, I just googled it and it's Mexica or Nicaraguense 🙃, she's my downfall because it's so delicious, but I lactose intolerant, it's a suffering for me 🥹, that one you ate looks super Mac.

¡Happy weekend @macchiata! 💖

hahahahahaha I don't recommend taco bell but if you ever visited a country with taco bell, maybe you can try just one but I have warned you. I love tres leches and it makes me want to learn how to make it. Happy weekend to you too Dalla!

Uff thats look so delicious!! Now I want haha
