Ain't it weird how one's mood can change in the blink of an eye; one moment all doom and gloom and the next it's time for jubilation!

Well, that's how I felt when I heard that BnB's and Hotels can at least open up to Business guests without having to get permission from the Ministry of Tourism for each booking!

So at least we're back in business, just waiting for the bookings now!

Of course this still means a whole lot of fighting to stay afloat, having to change strategies and focus, but hey, we'll put on our boxing gloves and tackle this fight with gusto!

Our trainees will soon return as our little Lily's Cottage is a local training centre's preferred provider, so we should be back on track soon!

I could have invited you for cocktails as we can once again buy alcohol, but only from Mondays to Thursdays at certain hours; no tobacco sales though!

Another good thing happened this week - our Lockdown regulations have been declared invalid and unconstitutional by the High Court.

The judge identified a number of instances of irrationality in the regulations.
“The examples are too numerous to mention,” he said. “One need only to think of the irrationality in being allowed to buy a jersey but not undergarments or open-toed shoes and the criminalisation of many of the regulatory measures.”
The Citizen

Our economy has been destroyed with many job losses and thousands of people facing starvation as a result of our draconian lockdown; but it is heartening to see the number of initiatives by NGO's in alleviating the plight of these unfortunate people.

This was at our local supermarket Pick n Pay.

Last Friday I was in a real fighting mood as things did not look good for us, but today it's time for a Food Fight Friday mini celebration so you're all invited to my tea party as I can offer you all a cup of traditional South African Rooibos tea which I spoke about a while back; a perfect pairing with a big slice of French Apple Cake with an African twist.

This soft spongy flavoursome cake with a touch of cinnamon has little cubes of apples resting inside the sponge; really yummy!

I cannot take credit for this recipe as Granny Google came to the rescue when I started searching for something with Apples; I wanted anything but an Apple Pie as I've been making way too many of those!

I found a French Apple Cake created by the super talented chef and author Jenn Segal; and after making it I can see why there are over a thousand reviews with an average rating of 5!

Nice find in something different to do with apples @lizelle being winter rooibos tea definitely high on the hit list of refreshing drink in the day.

Have a wonderful Sunday, so glad you are able to start planning ahead once again. My husband took a long walk down to the beach this morning and said it was quite busy, people swimming, fishing and walking the dogs, I think it has reached a point where enough is enough.

I think we all feel the same! We know what to do now so the government must stop their power struggles, I'm totally over it all!
Talking about our government, my son's repatriation flight from Moscow was canceled at the last minute last night, apparently it was chaotic passengers who were already on the flight from Frankfurt said that either SAA or the Embassy messed up and overbooked, but they made the excuse there was a problem with the plane door, so everyone had to stay over in Moscow last night, he was furious!

That is exactly the problem in this country too many vying to be in charge, literally from the frying pan into the fire with politicians!

Most arranging anything today cannot control a fart in a paper packet let alone an airline. I would have been throwing my toys out to cot, if stranded overseas. My temper is becoming more frayed as the days go on, blood pressure.... what blood pressure, this is a caldron ready to pop it's lid!

I generally am the most patient person out, but of late am also reaching boiling point with the absurd lockdown regulations and statements being made! Like the ANC & EFF are silent about the horrific death of Collins Khoza and other South Africans killed by black SANDF members and policemen during lockdown but are diverting the attention from that by making a big noise about the equally horrific killing of George Floyd!
This us what happened with my son's flight, it never left Germany for Moscow and DIRCO DIRCO spokesperson, the department who arranged this flight states that he knew nothing about the flight!!! Think I need to start smoking to calm my nerves but can't even buy smokes!!! https://www.news24.com/news24/southafrica/news/saa-repatriation-flight-from-germany-stalled-after-planes-door-malfunctions-20200613

That looks and sounds so delish @lizelle, I wish I could taste it.
I would come visit your B&B if I thought I could get back home
Once I left ha ha...I'm going to make plans to visit both
You and @felt.buzz (who runs one in France) as soon as
I can get my life to be more stable. U&R my friend

Thank you @jerrytsuseer, that would be an absolute pleasure;)

Thank you so much @rozku:)

What a great looking cake! I bet it’s delicious too.

It certainly was, thank you @shaidon!

We live right next to South Africa's biggest export apple valley.
No need to guess what will be next on our menu and so glad that we don't have to pay for the apples. We get boxes full to supply to our feeding scheme and the little kids love the apples!
Blessings, bookmarked and have a nice weekend!

You are so blessed living in fruit country, this really is a lovely cake, I'm tempted to make some again with my store-bought apples;)
WOnderful that the farmers donate apples to you for the feeding scheme; I still find it heartbreaking thinking of those poor people who have to go out in the cold to get a hot meal, what would happen to them without people like yourselves!

Blessed to be here Lady Lizelle.
The poor will always be with us through the ages.
Maybe just to test our hearts methinks.
We can do nothing without the Spirit!

Gosh, thank you @diyhub and @priyanarc, appreciate the curation!

This is what I want right now. I need desert and one so fluffy and delicious like this. I would love to have this and a cup of tea.

I'm glad things are looking up for you. All the best!

You're so right, it's fluffy and light, sure it would work well with vegan egg replacement as well! Thank you for the kind wishes too @carolynstahl, hope you're surviving lockdown as well!

That looks divine. I love apple cakes and desserts...the cinnamon is a great addition. Clove would be good, too!

That cake is calling me again, will definitely add a dash of cloves next time, always good with cooked apples! Thanks for visiting @fionasfavourites, must be freezing cold down your way at the moment!

It's vrek cold, Lizelle. I hate it. I end up worse than the Michelin man in 500 million layers of clothing...

I could do with some of that apple cake...

Happy weekend!

Glad to hear you're back in business Lizelle

Such a relief @leelektrik!

I'll gladly take a slice of this heavenly homemade French apple cake next time you make it, Lizelle! Happy to hear you're finally allowed to open for business at your BnB and resume some sense of normalcy!💕🏡🥮🍏

Thank you so much @ninahaskin, yes we're really relieved to be back in business! Thank you so much for the encouragement, it's time I made this cake again, it really was delicious.
