Savory / Masala French Toast

Alright, alright. I neglected posting for the longest time. But a lot has happened since, and a lot continues to happen. Well, that's life. Isn't it?

So, I need to start restocking my freezer with prepped meals. And the way I go about it is to make one and make one for later, that way I do not have to spend a lot of time to get food in my freezer. Today, I am starting with the basic. A savory French toast.

Let's start.

Ingredients:
Egg - 8
Onion - 1/2 chopped small
Capsicum - 1/4 chopped small
salt - as per taste (I have added 1 teaspoon)
pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
milk - 5 tablespoon
cayenne powder - 1/2 teaspoon
Coriander / cilantro leaves - a little (because I had it)
(you can also add any grated veggies that you want to use up)
Bread - 8 or 9 slices
Butter for toasting

Method:
Crack eggs in a bowl. Add onion, capsicum, salt, pepper, milk, cayenne powder, coriander leaves. Mix well.

Dip the bread in the egg mixture for a couple of seconds on both sides.

Heat butter in a pan.

And toast the bread on the pan. Add some of the onion and capsicum on top before you flip. Flip the toast and cook on the other side as well.

Continue making until you run out of the egg mixture or the bread.

To Freeze

I let the savory masala toast cool completely. And today I will cling wrap the slices, put it in the bread bag and freeze.

Hope you try this and enjoy it, as much as we do.

I cook every day. Well, almost every day. And there are days where I cook multiple recipes. Having said that, I am not an authentic or professional chef. Many of my recipes are experiments as I try to adapt and use the ingredients I already have.

My mantra is you should cook food just the way you like it. I don’t mean any disrespect to traditional methods of cooking or any cultures where the cuisine originates from. But I merely try to cook it with what I have and what is available to me and sometimes, I add ingredients that I want to use up.
